Charger Check-In
November 13, 2023
A Note from Ms. Owens
It's amazing to realize that we are in November. We've moved our clocks back and the darkness comes so much earlier. November also means the end of the first trimester of the school year. The trimester ends this Friday. With the Thanksgiving holiday, report cards and other end of the trimester paperwork will go home on Monday, November 27.
Our next Early Dismissal Wednesday is December 13. The faculty and staff will gather for a Christmas celebration. In order to allow our extended care staff to attend, there will be no extended care available that day. The tentative school calendar has been updated to reflect this change regarding extended care.
If you have extra Halloween candy that you would like to get out of your house, please send it in to school. Through November 15, we are collecting candy for local organizations who work with the homeless and new comer communities.
- SCA's Men's Club is sponsoring a Non-Perishables and Paper Products Drive this week. These donations will support the food pantry at Our Lady of Guadalupe, our sharing parish. Collections continue through Sunday, November 19.
- The St. Vincent de Paul Society is sponsoring a Toy Drive to benefit Catholic Charities and the programs they support. Bring in a new, unwrapped toy in it's original packaging to go under the tree in the church vestibule. Toys will be picked up the morning of Monday, December 4.
- The 14th Annual Kevin Dowling Toy Drive is Saturday, December 2 at Bourbon Street from 1PM-5PM. There is no cost, however, guests are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy or a monetary donation.
A Bit More News...
- On Thursday, November 16, all SCA families are invited to participate in a Family Night of Adoration beginning at 6PM. The evening will be filled with song and prayful activities for children, parents, guardians and grandparents.
- On Friday, November 17, there will be NO extended care so we can safely facilitate the set up for that evening's Holiday Wishes Vendor Fair.
- Ticket order forms for the Holiday Wishes Vendor Fair went home in the last white envelope. Payment and forms are due back to SCA by Tuesday, November 14.
- Books for the 45th Annual Fire & Public Safety Coloring Contest sponsored by the Oak Lawn Fire Department went home with our K-4th grade students last week. I encourage you to read through the book with your child. Contest entries should be returned to SCA no later than Monday, December 4.
- FSA's annual Christmas Weath Sale has begun. Order forms and brochures went home in white envelopes earlier in October.
- If you know of an SCA family who owns a small business that we can publicize here to help support them, please reach out to me via email. Scroll down to see local businesses we can support.
