Who We Are
Caritas Australia is part of a global network that spans over 200 countries and territories.
For over 110 years, Caritas has worked towards the creation of a just world. In 1964, Caritas began in Australia. A Catholic Agency for International Aid and Development, Caritas is Latin for love + compassion – two qualities which are central to our work.
The Emergency Response Fund helps provide immediate humanitarian aid relief whenever and wherever disaster strikes around the world.
Everyday, 61 million primary school-age children are unable to attend school because of poverty, poor health and conflict. Education is a major key to releasing people from poverty.
Millions of people suffer from health issues caused by infections, poor living conditions and a lack of access to basic health services. Caritas Australia works with communities to provide education on health issues, and facilitate provision of healthcare services.
