WAUWATOSA MONTESSORI SCHOOL
November 18th, 2022
From the Principal
Happy Friday Wauwatosa Montessori School Community
What a difference a week makes with respect to temperatures and weather. For those of you on the road this weekend for pre-holiday festivities and events, safe travels.
This week, the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction released school report cards. Wauwatosa School District emailed a communication to families regarding these report cards. Wauwatosa Montessori School received a rating of Significantly Exceeds Expectations. I want to thank the collective Wauwatosa Montessori School community --teachers, families, and students---for the effort and mindset that sustains that level of performance. My thank you also includes Ashley Imperiale and her school leadership the past several years.
The WSD communication about report cards includes information about new district systems and structures around student learning, school growth, and accountability. For Wauwatosa Montessori School, we have the opportunity --within those systems and structures---to tell our story and champion ways to strengthen our respect of, and fidelity to, Montessori methodology and tenets.
Have a great weekend--
Dean
Note: Thank you Mrs. Bethany Migdal for the beautiful bulletin board.
Evacuation Drill Update
I originally communicated that this would be done before Thanksgiving to families....just want to get something out there that is modified
Our designated monthly safety drill for November will have Wauwatosa Montessori School / Fisher Building conduct an offsite evacuation drill. An offsite evacuation takes place if there is a threat inside the building (i.e. gas leak, major building damage, bomb threat, etc). Our evacuation site is the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church campus. This drill allows staff and students to practice leaving the building, safely crossing the street to enter Mt. Zion, and then returning to school. We will be holding the drill prior to the end of November and have been consulting with the district's School Safety Coordinator and Mt. Zion on drill details.

Battle of the Books
We are so excited to announce that Battle of the Books is back! This year, 23 upper elementary students signed up to be in 6 teams and 15 middle schoolers joined 4 teams for a chance to go state. With so many students and teams this year, we are hoping for parent's help to purchase the books on the list. Please consider buying 1-2 books for our school library so the teams can easily access their reading list.
Consider helping us with our wish list . Thank you
