QT2 Week 1: October 17-21
Happy Sunday Elementary Coyotes!
Welcome to the second 9 weeks. We are super excited to receive our students and teachers this Monday. Our custodial and Maintenance & Operations staff has been working very hard to ensure that our buildings are ready for students tomorrow.
The next two weeks will be extremely busy in the classroom with instruction as well as the community and parent events around our district. Please look at our calendar or the community events for the exact details.
PK-2nd Grade Fieldtrip - Mesilla Valley Pumkin Patch
We are super excited to announce that all of our PK-2nd grade students will be visiting the pumpkin patch and corn maze in Mesilla Valley on October 26. This trip will help reinforce concepts that they have been learning about in social studies such as map skills and changes that people have on the environment.
Be on the lookout for the permission slip with specific details about our fieldtrip.
Saturday Camps
All students will be receiving an invitation for October's Saturday Tutoring Camp. Please take a close look at it as your child's teacher will indicate a specific target area for your child.
For the month of November and December, there are two days scheduled for extended learning (Saturday Camp). For November and December, students will receive 3 hours of academic practice and one hour of enrichment class. Students will get to choose their top three choices for enrichment on the permission slip.
Elementary Fundraiser - Will you help us raise some "dough" for our school?
Our elementary coyotes are selling Krispy Kreme cards to help fundraise for student and teacher incentives. Your contribution helps us our purchase items such as books for our Book vending machine, science lab consumable materials, Attendance awards, and Reading awards.
Stop by the front office to purchase your Krispy Kreme card. More details found below.
Elementary Parking Lot Expansion
Beginning on Monday, October 17 the elementary parking lot inside the gates will be closed for the construction of needed repairs and new parking spaces. Parents and staff are encouraged to use the parking spaces in the "drop-off" areas.
We encourage you to use our curbside drop-off in the mornings when dropping off your child. Your patience is greatly appreciated as this will ensure that all roads around our school are safe for all our Elementary Coyotes.
Attendance
We take a lot of pride in our attendance at Tornillo Elementary. Please help us maintain it at 98%!
1. When your child is absent, please send the doctor's note or parent note to the office the next day.
2. Tardy Bell rings at 7:50am. A student will receive a tardy slip every time they arrive late.
Ready for a Great Week!
