Happy Monday, Rocks!
We encourage you to check in with your students to see how they are doing in their classes, how they are feeling about school and what additional enrichments or supports they might need. Please reach out to our staff so we can partner with you. We are passionate about ensuring that #EVERYRockValued #EVERYRockConnected #EVERYRockReady is our reality. Let's make it a great week!
New Information This Week
Important Reminders for Students and Parents
Today, we'd like to remind you of two items that have come to our attention. The first is that many students are using food delivery services such as Door Dash, Uber Eats, restaurant delivery services, etc. to have lunch delivered. We'd like to remind you that this is not allowed. Please see our policy in the WHS Student handbook:
In addition, we have seen an uptick in parents dropping off students before school at Door #1 which is our staff parking lot. We understand that everyone is in a hurry, but this has become a safety issue and we are asking parents to please use ONLY Door #9 (main athletic wing entrance) and Door #32 (main Union wing entrance). Staff and students who walk to school often are in the staff lot and we ask your cooperation in keeping this area free from extra traffic.
SOS Blood Drive Will Be This Thursday
The WHS Service Over Self (SOS) Club is hosting our WHS Blood Drive this week. It is open to:
- WHS Students 17 years of age or older
- WHS Students 16 years old who have parental consent
- WHS staff members
It will be held on Thursday, December 9th, from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. Students will be allowed to miss class in order to donate blood.
Students can sign up here. On the day of the drive, students will have a pass to be excused from class for their donation time slot. Attendance will be given a list of students who attended the drive in order to correct whatever is needed in PowerSchool related to attendance on Thursday, December 9th. Please allow 24 hours to see those corrections.

2021-22 A Chance To Serve (ACTS) Students Chosen
Congratulations to these ten freshmen who have been chosen to represent WHS in this year's A Chance To Serve (ACTS) program! ACTS is a youth leadership program put on by Purdue University Extension. Ten freshmen (nominated by their teachers) from each of three schools; Westfield, Hamilton Southeastern, and Noblesville, will meet together to learn how to have a leadership voice in their schools and communities.
These kids will meet together six times throughout this school year. Each of the meetings will have a different focus and the students will be able to get a taste of how things work in the community.
At the end of the year, the students will select a community board that they will serve on as voting members throughout their sophomore year. Mentors from these organizations will work with the students throughout the year.
The 2021-22 WHS ACTS students are Angelina Abriani, Cooper Bohn, Drew Law, Gabby Smith, Johnny Ewing, Mayah Lopez, Megan Krueckeberg, Mialena Gordeua, Michael Mannella and Mikeah Webster.
Reminders
Early Dismissals
Parents, please be aware that if your student will need an early dismissal pass on Monday or Tuesday before Winter Break, our WHS Front Office Staff requests that you call the attendance line (317-867-6801) BEFORE 10 AM on the day of your child's early dismissal and LEAVE A MESSAGE. That line is checked every 10-15 minutes and there is no need to call back to speak to someone live.
If a last-minute early dismissal situation comes up, please know that it may take up to 15 minutes or longer to get your student out the door to leave.
Once you have called our attendance line, your student will receive an early dismissal pass. It is the student's responsibility to communicate with his or her teacher about the early dismissal.
We appreciate your cooperation. Our WHS Front Office staff does a phenomenal job with classroom attendance, early dismissals, and absences, but with over 2600 students in our building, last-minute requests are not able to be granted quickly. Thank you for your understanding.
College Planning Night
All students in grades 9-11 and their parents/guardians are invited to join us for College Planning Night on Tuesday, December 14th from 6:30-8:30 PM.
