Brrr... It is starting to feel Frozen at Union!!!

On Friday, December 20th our school will have a “Frozen” Spirit Day! Students are encouraged to wear any sort of frozen theme or winter/snow type clothing to school as we celebrate winter on the last day before Winter Break. With the school play being Frozen this year, student council thought this was a great theme choice to grow excitement for this upcoming event!

Thank you for showing your school spirit and have a wonderful Winter Break!

PTO

SPIRIT WEAR

The orders are in! We are working hard to get your Union Spirit Wear to you. Orders will be bagged and sent home with one of your students as soon as possible. No date has been set, but we assure that you will get your items BEFORE the break. Thank you!

STAFF APPRECIATION

Absolutely no one deserves a treat like the teachers, administrators and staff at an elementary school in the weeks before Winter Break. Please take a look at the list below and consider volunteering to provide an item for a PTO sponsored party for Union Staff.

SOIREE

The much anticipated Soiree will be here before you know it and planning is well under way. If you are interested in donating an auction item the Soiree Committee is looking for Union families who might be able and willing to provide a unique experience for one of our Stars to win. From a visit to a farm, fishing in a private lake, a stay in a vacation home or a day spent with a vet, no idea is too big or small. Please reach out to Jayna Cacioppo if you would like to provide an auction item. JCacioppo@taftlaw.com

Parent STEM Survey

Zionsville Community Schools implemented an innovative STEM program in each elementary school led by STEM teacher/coaches in 2012 and all five elementary schools were STEM certified by the IDOE in 2015. Our elementary STEM programming has grown and developed into a model of best practices in the realm of elementary learning. STEM coaches support classroom teachers and work collaboratively to ensure students are provided rich experiences in all areas of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). We are asking parent input regarding our STEM program as we look to evaluate our program to improve our practices. Please follow the survey link to answer a few questions about our STEM programs: Parent STEM Survey

BYOD Information

This time of year, the ZCS Technology Department is asked quite often, “what kind of computer should I get my student for the Bring Your Own Device 1:1 program in grades 5th-12th?” Normally we just give the minimum specs for the computers but this year we have worked with Lenovo to provide our families with an option to purchase the same device that ZCS uses for the rental program. It will be at the same discounted price ZCS pays ($506), tax free, and shipped to your door with free shipping in 2-3 weeks. If you wish to purchase instead of rent the device we selected as a technology team for its ruggedness and performance, just follow the link below and create an account with Lenovo.

After creating your account, we will approve you as a ZCS resident and you will receive an email from Customer Registration at ecomm.accounts@lenovo.com. After being approved, simply log in, select products, then “laptops and ultrabooks” in the upper left corner to select the only option, the Lenovo ThinkPad 11e 5th Gen. For a full explanation of the process and detailed instructions for ordering, please visit https://www.zcs.k12.in.us/apps/pages/index.jsp?uREC_ID=1655035&type=d&pREC_ID=1801359.
