## What A Fun Week!

Monday-Welcome back! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday! In math, we began working on recalling the days of the week. We did an activity where students had to recognize the days of the week and put into order. We also began learning about the five senses. We had a wonderful discussion on how the five senses allows us to learn about things.

Wednesday-Buddy PE Day! This morning our class had PE with Mrs. Phillip's third grade class for Buddy PE. The classes played fun games and talked with each other. What a fun community building event! In writing, we generated a list of things we do in the month of December. We had ideas from birthdays to baking cookies to playing with our friends.

Thursday-In math, we continued talking about the 7 days in a week and then the months of the year. We also participated in a five senses race. Students had to make a prediction on which sense would win the race. Then, students had to graph the findings and discover if their prediction was correct. We began talking about holidays all around the world. We are also beginning to discuss maps and globes. Today, we read the story The Legend of the Poinsettia. This Mexican legend talks about the poinsettia and how it is important in the Mexican culture. We will also learn about Hanukkah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa.

Friday-We read our non-fiction Let's Find Out about Busy Holiday Workers. Students created a coupon to take home to a family member about helping out during the holidays. I hope you enjoy! We also enjoyed the online actives from Let's Find Out. Feel free to check this out at home! Students also participated in a five senses smell test. Our favorite smell was cinnamon. Sight words were also assessed today. Please keep the sight words in your child's homework folder. Thanks!
