From the Principal's Desk
Dear FJVD Families,
Happy 4th of July Weekend! I hope this message finds you and your family well and able to enjoy some rest and relaxation this holiday weekend.
Reopening Plan Progress
I am pleased to share that the initial draft of our reopening plan is currently being reviewed by both the Fall Preparedness Team and a team of regional Catholic school principals. A reminder that, after an appropriate review and revision process, the plan will be shared with families and several town hall meetings will be held throughout the remainder of the summer to discuss important details and answer questions.
As noted in our town hall meeting on June 8th, one area the plan discusses is hybrid learning - that is, creating a classroom environment where students can learn simultaneously in the classroom and at home. To this end, several teachers were testing out hybrid learning models in their classrooms this week. Thank you to these teachers and to all of the members of the Fall Preparedness Team for their efforts. While reopening presents unique challenges for all schools, I am grateful for the wisdom, insights, and dedication of our staff in developing a robust reopening plan.
Another part of composing the reopening plan is reviewing the challenges and successes of distance learning this spring. To this end, please take a moment to complete our in-depth distance learning survey if you have not already had an opportunity to do so. Your feedback is greatly appreciated!
Finally, please know that, while we are working diligently to develop a reopening plan that addresses all essential elements of safely reopening, ultimately the plan must be adaptable and amendable as various reopening scenarios are possible depending on the course of the virus.
Summer Facilities Updates
While students aren't in school, our maintenance staff is hard at work! Classrooms are being thoroughly cleaned, floors are being buffed, and the lockers are even receiving a fresh coat of paint. In addition, various repairs are being taken care of to ensure the school is in top condition for reopening in the fall!

Aluminum Can Tab Collection
What: Aluminum can tabs are being collected
Why: To support the Ronald McDonald House in Providence
How can you help? Save can tabs and send them in to Mr. Godin’s room.
Bottle Cap Drive
We’re excited to share that our school is part of the Coca-Cola Give program. This provides new funding opportunities to help improve learning environments for students. The best part? Donations don’t come out of your own pocket. When you make Coca-Cola purchases, you simply send in bottle caps or product codes from boxes of beverages and our school receives a donation.
All caps and codes should be sent to Mr. Godin. Codes will be entered on one account to gain larger and quicker donations.
Thank you!
