WST Weekly Update

December 14 - December 17, 2021

When there is Inclement Weather...

As the weather is getting colder and the S word (SNOW) is being bantered about in the forecast, this is the perfect time for reminders about Snow Days and West Sound Tech.

Snow Scenarios:

* If your sending school is closed due to weather, your student is excused from WST (there will be no sending school transportation)

* If your sending school is running 2 hours late, AM students are excused from WST (there will be no sending school transportation in the AM)

* If Bremerton School District is closed due to weather, there is NO WST

* If Bremerton School District is 2 hours late, there is no AM session

If WST is closed or 2 hours late this information will be posted on the main WST website:

Face Coverings While at School

Face Coverings

A cloth face covering is anything that completely covers the mouth and nose and fits securely on the sides of the face and under the chin. (Gators, bandanas and face shields are not permitted as they do not meet these requirements.) Exceptions will be made for masks on a case-by-case basis in accordance with WaDOH and/or WIAA guidance, or a student's IEP or 504 plan.

Indoors: All BSD school personnel, volunteers, visitors, and students will wear cloth face coverings or an acceptable alternative (e.g., surgical mask) at school. The District will review CDC, WaDOH, KPHD and OSPI guidance as it changes and publish updates to the level of protection required as soon as feasible.

3D Animation & Game Design Holiday

This week, WST students will engage in a presentation about A.L.I.C.E., which is a safety protocol used by West Sound Tech in case of an intruder.

A.L.I.C.E. is an acronym, that stands for:

The ALICE steps are not necessarily planned in order, rather, instructors and individuals are able to make a decision based on the information provided that increases their safety. Your student will view a PPT presentation explaining the ALICE process and provides a couple of video examples from different situations. Then, students will have a series of questions to discuss in their classrooms about how best to implement ALICE depending upon the situation.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Shani Watkins, the director, at shani.watkins@westsoundtech.
