Washington Early Learning Center

The Washington Eagles

Week of December 4th-December 11th, 2015

From the Eagle's Nest!

Dear Families,

To ensure the safety of our students and staff, we have recently added additional security cameras within our building, as well as on our playground. We have also relocated the main entrance. All visitors will now use the buzzer and entrance located at 220 E. Franklin Ave., which is closest to the office. This will assist in making sure that all visitors stop in the office upon entering the building.

Please note that this does not change our current arrival and dismissal procedures. All 4K students will still enter at 220 E. Franklin and our Early Childhood, Phonology, and bus students will still enter the parking lot doors. Dismissal will take place at the usual doors.

Please pass along this information to anyone who would be dropping off or picking up your child from school.

Thank you for your assistance with this change!

Mrs. Nelson

Please mark your calendars!

4K Adventure Book Bags!

For one week each month, beginning in December, your child will bring home a 4K Adventure Book Bag!

The bags will be sent home on Fridays and need to be returned by the following Thursday. Since these are being shared with other students in the classroom, it is important that you return this bag on-time so other students can have their turn the following week.

Inside each month's book bag there will be a book, along with fun activities that families can do together!

We hope you enjoy these and we welcome feedback for future family activities.

4K Family Time at the Neenah Public Library

Come visit the Neenah Public Library on Saturday, December 19th from 9:00-5:00 for a dinosaur themed event!

9:00-5:00--Get your library card; scavenger hunt; dinosaur projects and activities

11:00-1:00--Dinosaur Lego Build

1:00-3:00--Dinosaur Face Painting

3:45-Dinosaur-themed short film with prehistoric treats!

Enjoy quality time with your family while getting to know other 4K families as well!

A flyer will be coming home with your child early this week with more information!

Schwan's Cares Fundraiser

Do you, or someone you know, order from Schwan's home delivery?

Schwan’s makes it very easy for us all to enjoy over 350 delicious food and desserts that they provide. Your food will be delivered to you at your convenience; they even provide a freezer bag for you if you will not be home for the delivery (it will even keep your ice cream cold on a hot summer day). You will need to provide a credit card on your first order, however your card will not be charged until your food is delivered, so if you prefer to pay by another option you may do so at time of delivery.

The cool thing about using Schwan’s is that anyone can use our fundraiser ID number, anywhere in the USA, and we will get the donations! So once you are registered on Schwan’s, please share our fundraiser with all your Facebook, Twitter, email and other friends, family and neighbors! Help Washington’s PTO raise money in order for the PTO to continue to help pay for field trips and other fun activities.

Remember to enter our fundraiser number when ordering (ID 24820), and we earn a percentage of your order for our Washington PTO! The first 45 days of our campaign earns us a larger percentage, so please consider ordering early!

Catalogs are available in the office! If you would like one sent home with your child, please call the office or send a note with your child's teacher.

Absence Policy

If your child will be absent from school (Washington & ACI students), you will need to call Washington ELC at 751-6990 to inform us of this absence. If you call and need to leave a message, please leave the following information:

  • Child's name
  • Child's teacher
  • Reason for absence

We will record this information in our attendance system, and let your child's teacher know.

If you do not call the office, you should expect a call from us.

Please let us know if you have any specific questions!

Visitor Policy

We welcome visitors to our school! However, for the safety of all children and staff, we require all visitors to check-in and wear a visitor badge if they are in the building. Please remember that if you are in the building, staff members will be looking for your visitor badge! Thanks for your support in keeping our building SAFE!
