DID YOU KNOW?
A WEEKLY LIBRARY NEWSLETTER FOR TEACHERS
Vol. 1, Issue 9: May 31, 2021
Step 2: Explore Our Home Page
Welcome to the MHHS Destiny Discover home page!
From here you can explore our newest additions and popular titles by clicking on the book cover.
You can see immediately if a title is available by the red or green ribbon on the book cover.
For a more in depth search, click on search options next to the search bar at the top of the home screen.
Step 4: Log in to Destiny Discover
From the home page, click on Login, located in the top right corner of the page.
Username: student email (leave off @smusd)
Password: student's DOB (YYYYMMDD)
Once you're logged in and have found a book you'd like to read, click on the book cover. Then click on the button that says "Place hold".
Library staff will then pull the book(s) from the shelf and send you an email notification when your hold(s) are available for pick up from the textbook office.
When is the library open during the summer months?
Library book pick up is available now through June 30th and will resume on August 2. The library is closed for all of July.
Where do I go to pick up my holds?
Come to the textbook office window on campus for pick ups. We are open M-F 7:45-4:00 through June 30th.
How many holds can I place? How many books can I have checked out?
We have no limits on the number of library books a student can place on hold or have checked out at any given time.
How long can I keep a library book over the summer?
For the summer, library books will be due after the school year begins in mid-August. The rest of the year, library books are due three weeks from check-out. We always stamp the due date on the back inside cover of the book for your reference.
Are there late fines?
The MHHS library does not assess late fines for any library materials. Please just return your books when you are finished!
What happens if a library book gets damaged?
Damaged materials will incur a fine.
What if the MHHS library doesn't have the book I'm looking for?
Look for the book on Sora, the student eBook platform from Overdrive. Instructions for setting up your Sora account and checking out eBooks can be found here. Prefer a physical copy? Fill out the Library Book Purchase Request form on our website and we will order it!
I'm an incoming student - can I place holds?
The library print collection is available to students who place holds online and come to campus to pick them up. Students must log in to Destiny Discover to place holds, therefore incoming students will not be able place holds over the summer as they are not in our system yet. Come see us as soon as the new school year starts! Until then, explore Sora, the student eBook platform from Overdrive - click here.
