A Message From Mrs. Caudill
I was riding my Peloton yesterday morning and the instructor (Sam Yo for all you Peloton fans out there) said something that I made me yell upstairs to my son to grab my phone so I could email the quote to myself. He said, "Your brilliance is written in the ink of your resilience." Please take a moment and read that again because it was so eloquently said. This quote instantly reminded me of a video (shared below) that Ms. LaManna, our learning consultant shared with me earlier this week about grit, passion and perseverance.
It is these "soft skills" that are the determining factors that will lead to our kids' success. As many of you know, I am a parent of fifth grader. He does very well academically, however, when something is too hard, or he feels he might fail, he has a tendency to give up. That is why we practice failing and we practice using perseverance. My hope is to increase his grit and give him the resilience he needs to succeed.
Stay Well,
Devon Caudill

May Focus - Habit 8: Find your Voice!
This month’s Habit: Habit #8 - Find your Voice
What this means: Find your voice means finding something that you are good at and like doing. You are proud, but do not boast. Instead, you use your expertise to help and inspire others.
Physical: Learn your true nature and gifts, then use them to envision what you can achieve.
Social/Emotional: We all have a purpose and special talents.
Mental: Transcend the negative culture of ego, scarcity, comparison, and competitiveness.
Spiritual: Be a catalyst to the success of something bigger than ourselves.
What I can do:
- Try something new like painting, horseback riding, or baseball. Then ask yourself: Did I enjoy myself? Was it easy or hard? Do I want to learn more?
- Go to the library or search the internet to find reading material on new things. What kinds of things spark your interest? What do you want to continue learning about?
- Plan some time to help someone in need. How did the experience make you feel?
Great Books for Habit #8- Find Your Voice
- Wonder by: R.J. Palacio
- The Lion Inside by: Rachel Bright
- Separate is Never Equal by: Duncan Tonatiuh
- Wonderland by: Barbara O'Connor
- Those Shoes by: Maribeth Boelts
