April 10 - 14
City Year Beautification Project
City Year has graciously chosen Penn Elementary to make a difference for students! The school beautification project will take place Saturday, April 22 from 7:30a.m. - 5:00p.m. This is a BIG deal for Penn! CityYear is recruiting corporate sponsors from all over the city to make this happen for all of us! There will be volunteers in almost every place in the school, making it a place of pride.
I would like for our school staff to show their gratitude to CityYear, by participating in the service project. I am asking that you come out for a couple of hours that day to show that we appreciate the work that they are doing, but that we are also invested in making Penn beautiful for kids. If you can attend, please sign up below. Put the hours that you think you can attend in the LAST NAME column. Thank you for going over and above for students!

The School Store
Please note
Students have typically been able to purchase awesome selections from the category "500 points" which in reality makes them not have to work really hard to get a great prize. The "500 category" is now the new "250". For the last quarter of school, students will really need to work hard to earn the points for something that they like.
Items in the store have also been categorized in point categories based on interest to students. What lower grade students will work for and what older students work for will differ, so differentiation has been made between the two groups in the point categories. Of course, if they are interested in the items, they will work hard for it. The hope is that students will see something that they want and work hard to earn the points in your classroom to purchase the item. You will receive an email with pictures of the store to share with your students.
