PHILANTHROPY FAIR- SAVE THE DATE
SAVE THE DATE!!!
Walden’s Philanthropy Club-Give, Smile, Repeat- will be having its annual Philanthropy Fair on Thursday, May 30th from 3:30-4:30 in the gym. Bring your quarters and browse the booths for one-of-a-kind art work, homemade crafts and tasty treats! We are raising money for Gratitude Generation to help a less fortunate elementary school in a nearby community. Please come and help us break last year’s record of $2000!!!
Save the Date for Walden's Family Science Night on Friday, May 10th from 6-7:30pm. This free family event will have over 25 amazing hands on activities.
Are you interested in running a table featuring a science experiment? We still have space for a few more tables. Please let Sabina Holzman email@example.com know if you'd like to participate.
5th GRADE END OF YEAR PICNIC/PARTY
Party: Friday Night June 7th from 7-8:30pm at Bizar Entertainment
Picnic: Tuesday June 11th (last day of school) from 10-2pm at Maplewood

PTO VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR NEXT YEAR
Are you interested in becoming more involved in the Walden PTO next school year? We have the following Committee Chair openings for the 2019-20 school year. Please email Alyse (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Kelly (email@example.com) if you are interested in any of these PTO opportunities! It is a fun way to get involved with your child's school!
Treasurer (Shadow)- We are looking for someone who would like to Shadow our current treasurer for the next school year and then take over the position the following year (this is a three year commitment). If you have a second grader or younger this would be a great job for you! This position helps create and manage the PTO Budget.
Teacher Appreciation - Help plan Teacher Appreciation week for our wonderful staff. This is a fun filled week where we get to spoil our wonderful teaching staff.
Leader in Me - A liaison between the Walden Lighthouse house team and the PTO.
Wildcat Lunch (Shadow)- This is a liaison position between our Lunch Vendor and the PTO. You would shadow our current Wildcat Lunch Committee Chair next year and then take over the following school year.
5th Grade Robert Crown Girls Program - *2019-20 5th Grade Parents Needed!* Help coordinate the speaker and informational evening for girls/moms in 5th grade during the month of March.
5th Grade Chairs- Party and Picnic- *2019-20 5th Grade Parents Needed!* this is a great job for you! We are looking for a few parents to help plan both the end of the year party and the end of the year picnic for our 5th graders.
Ice Cream Social- *2019-20 5th Grade Parents Needed!* to help plan this awesome event that brings our students together the first week of school. It's an easy and great way to get involved.
Field Day- You will be working closely with Mr. Rendl to help coordinate and organize our fun filled Field Day.
Science Night- Coordinate Science Night activities and help find the volunteer tables.
Indoor/Outdoor Recess Chair- This person will help to keep track of all of our indoor and outdoor recess equipment. They will help with replacements and changing things up for our students.
ROOM PARENTS NEEDED FOR THE 2019-2020 SCHOOL YEAR
ROOM PARENTS NEEDED FOR 2019/2020 SCHOOL YEAR-
The room parent committee is now collecting names for room parents for the 2019/2020 school year! Each teacher will have two room parents. **Room parents will be required to attend an evening informational meeting in August and Open House. Room parent responsibilities include collecting money for classroom parties and teacher gifts, coordinating volunteers, and serving as classroom liaison, which includes communicating with the teacher and class parents. Room Parents will be assigned the week before school starts once class lists are communicated. Please e-mail Stephanie Blumberg- firstname.lastname@example.org with the name and grade of your child next year, and include YOUR name, email, and phone number If you have multiple children at Walden, please list all grades and preference. Thanks!
Please make sure you sign up for the rain date (if needed) on Tuesday, June 4th as well.
The Field Day Committee is looking for a water balloon coordinator! Please contact Lisa at email@example.com if you are interested in being in charge of water balloons for Field Day.

PHILANTHROPY CLUB MEETING
The next meeting of the Philanthropy Committee-Give, Smile, Repeat-will be on Monday, May 13th at 12:20. All interested 4th and 5th graders should bring a peanut free lunch to Mrs Oshiro’s room. We are finishing up our collaboration with Gratitude Generation and working on the upcoming Philanthropy Fair! Hope to see you there!
