Jets Tickets Give-Away!

You can buy a ticket (or a few!) to have your name put into a draw to win free Jets tickets. You can buy your tickets before or after the Band Concert on June 12th. Cost of the tickets are $5.00 each. The draw will be made in the fall.

Proceeds of the draw will be going to our Activity Structure.

Pac Picnic

On Friday, June 21st the PAC committee will be hosting a picnic for parents, students and staff, beginning at 12:15. More information will be posted on our website and sent home closer to this date.

Help Needed!

We are so excited to begin the first part of the assembly of our Activity Structure. We are looking for some volunteers to help with preparing the ground for our Structure on Friday, June 21st. Your child can purchase their own ticket if you want to send the money with them to school. Tickets will not be for sale at the Event.

Information was sent home with the Grade 8 students earlier in May. If you did not receive the waiver form that is needed for the Farewell, please contact the school office.

June Student Awards

Please be aware that there will be no formal Awards Ceremony for Grade 5-8 Awards. These will be presented to students in class by their teachers.

Pirates! The Musical

In May the Grade 5's and 6's presented a musical to parents, family and friends. We are so proud of the hard work that they put into a fantastic performance! Here are a few pictures that were taken during the performance:

International Band Camp

A group of Stonybrook Middle School students joined in with some other Hanover School Division students to attend the International Band Camp at the International Peace Gardens on May 31st to June 2nd. It was a great weekend for the students and for Mr. Goertzen! We are proud of the way you represented our school with your amazing behavior and participation!

The Division Office is open all summer long for transportation questions or if you are moving locations during the summer months. Please feel free to call them with address updates—their phone number is 204-326-2347 or 204-326-6471. This applies whether you require bus service or not. Thanks for keeping your records with the Division up to date!

Urban busing times may change over the summer months. Some stop locations may change as well. At the end of August/beginning of September, please check the Hanover School Division website for updates on the urban bus schedule. Website:—then click on appropriate map or view routes.

Special Note about: SUMMER IN THE CITY

Always a fun weekend

We are aware that Summer in the City is an exciting event in our community, and we are thrilled that our students are excited to participate in the fun. HOWEVER, Friday, June 14th is a regular school day, and all students are expected to be in attendance. If your child is involved in the Friday events in SITC, parents MUST come to sign out their child or make arrangements ahead of time for their child's absence on that day. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Rebizant or Mr. Neufeld at the school.

Red River College will be offering two Girls Exploring Trades and Technology (GETT) day camps for girls aged 12-14. These day camps will be offered as follows:

Camp #1: July 2-5, 2019

Camp #2: July 8-11, 2019

Where: Red River College, 2055 Notre Dame Avenue, Winnipeg

Cost: Only interest and energy! Lunch and snacks will be provided at no cost. All materials and equipment will also be provided at no cost.

The participants will take part in a variety of "try a trade" projects as they explore the carpentry, cabinet making, welding, masonry, plumbing, sheet metal and transportation and automotive trades, under supervision.

Application deadline is June 5, 2019. Applicants must be 12 years old as of June 1, 2019. You can download the application below.

Red River College-Red Cross Babysitting Course

This course is designed to prepare adolescents 11 years of age and older for babysitting. Participants will learn important child care skills, safety tips for children of all ages, how to cope with common problems, how to make the children's environment safe and enjoyable, some great games and what to do in case of an emergency. Students need to bring a doll or teddy bear, pencil and eraser and a lunch. Students will need to be signed in and out by an adult.

Free Children's Tickets to the Manitoba Summer Fair!

The Provincial Exhibition is pleased to announce that, thanks to the support of generous sponsors,they will be offering free gate tickets to children aged 6-12 for the Manitoba Summer Fair (to be held June 5-9, 2019). Today’s children are tomorrow’s future and the Provincial Exhibition strongly believes in the importance of providing them with family entertainment and educational opportunities.

A digital copy of the free children’s gate ticket for the Manitoba Summer Fair can be downloaded at It is also acceptable for parents/guardians to show a digital copy of the ticket on their cell phones at the gate, as long as they have a bright screen with no cracks.
