Compliment Gifts - For Students from Students
I know right! It is a language arts activity! Lucky for me you all teach both. It is a season of giving! What better way to help your students care for their classroom community! Here is a link to an article about Compliment Gifts.

Use Holiday Data!
Students are reading and generating story problems at grades 1 and 2. Use this great Holiday data to get them writing their own math problems. Kinder can use these data charts to model joining, comparing, more, less, and counting. I love this idea because it is easy and relevant for your students.
Show the Whole/Part/Part Model with this great resource!
I am hoping to model with the whole/part/part graphic organizer with these problems next week! Free Christmas Problems - from TPT

Resources
This week and next I am working on refining the report card packet to make sure it matches what is on the report card and follows our curriculum. Kinder design team representatives helped out with this some at our last meeting. I have also had some teams send me resources to add in that they have tried and tested on their students. Please keep a line of communication open so that we can all benefit from our collaboration!
Addition and Subtraction Facts
As you see your students begin to memorize facts like doubles, or making tens, s-t-r-e-t-c-h their thinking by making them apply what they know to get the unknown. For example, if a student knows 6 + 6 = 12, ask them to use 6 + 6 to find the answer for 6 + 8. Keep students on their toes and engaged!
Mixed Addition and Subtraction
Use number talks with your students to emphasize strategies they may know from basic facts. Make them apply the strategies they know to find sums and differences they don't know yet. Keep them thinking and you will keep their minds growing.
Unit Assessments and Resources - Grades 1 and 2
This is the skinny. All of the assessments for the 3rd 9 weeks have been worked on by the design team. I have made these edits and posted the new versions in the curriculum documents. Please do look them over and suggest edits, although there may not be any major changes. I am also working on creating review pages and pre-assessments for the 3rd 9 weeks. Please share any resources you think would benefit others so that we can add them into the curriculum documents. Thank you for all your suggestions and collaboration!
