From the Desk of Dr. Rodriguez
Student safety is one of our top priorities. Each month, we conduct evacuation and crisis drills so that students are aware of what needs to be done in the event of an emergency. During evacuation drills, students learn the appropriate routes they should take to exit the building safely as well as procedures during the drill. We also conduct routine crisis drills so that students are kept safe at all times. We make sure to emphasize to students that they should always listen for their teacher's instructions and always be aware of their surroundings. When we conduct crisis drills, we will notify you that a crisis drill is taking place via our ParentAlert system, as we did this past Wednesday morning. We ask that you make sure that your contact information is up to date in FACTS so that we can reach you at all times.
Enjoy your weekend, and be on the lookout for the next installment of Friday at 4:00 in one week!
Sincerely,
Dr. Rodriguez
Oswald's Odd Animals?!
Yes, you heard right! Oswald's odd animals! This week, kindergarten celebrated one of their favorite Superkids characters, Oswald, by designing and creating their very own odd animal. Students brought their odd animals to school and explained to their teachers and classmates exactly what criteria they used to design the animal. They informed their classmates about the different materials they used as well as their rationale as to why their animal should have certain features and not others. Not only did this activity bring out each student's creative side, but it also helped them practice the art of public speaking, an incredibly valuable skill. Needless to say, our teachers and "Oswald" were thoroughly impressed with the students' work!
