Shawnee Return To School Plan
March 2021Learning Plan
We are very excited for our revised learning plan that will greatly increase learning time for all students. Additionally, all students will now attend school on the same days. Although different than our traditional operations in past years, the way that we have operated this year during hybrid schedules will remain the same as we increase instructional time. These mitigation protocols will help to ensure the health and safety of all students and staff. As we prepare for our Shawnee Stars, we want to provide information and resources to answer questions and provide clarity as we transition to increased in person instruction. Below you will find an abundance of material. Please read all of the information carefully, discuss with your child, and help them be prepared for next week.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support.
Together We Will Shine!

~ Schedule ~
Wednesday, March 10 - Friday, April 16 ~
- Elementary students attend school for in person instruction four days a week. Monday - Thursday, students will attend school based on their regular bell schedules. Shawnee's school hours are: 9:00 AM – 3:44 PM.
- The four Fridays during this time will be remote (March 12, 19, 26 and April 16). Remote Fridays will be a combination of synchronous (teacher is present and gives information while students learn at the same time) and asynchronous (teacher assigns activities/work and students complete on their own) learning. Teachers will communicate their Friday schedules with their students/families.
Monday, April 19 – Tuesday, June 15 ~
- All CVS elementary students will attend school full-time, five days per week, in a traditional schedule.
~ Student Health Screener ~
Keeping our schools open for face-to-face learning will require everyone's help in mitigating the spread of the virus.
- Parents are asked to self-screen and complete the health screener below each morning to determine if their child should attend school.
- Staff and students are encouraged to stay home if feeling ill or have symptoms that are COVID-19 related
~ Facial Coverings ~
- All students and staff are required to wear facial coverings in the classroom and in common areas.
- Please label student's facial coverings with name and grade.
- If a student forgets their facial covering, a disposable mask will be provided.
- All students will receive a breakaway Shawnee Stars lanyard to attach to their masks. Lanyards should not go home with students and will remain at school to be used each day.
- Facial coverings should be taken home at the end of the day and washed. Students should have a clean mask each day.
- Please teach students facial covering protocols (potential video below).
