West Point El. Parent Update

Dear West Point Families,
We were so happy to welcome our Wildcats back to school last week, and we are looking forward to another wonderful week with them. Here are three things you need to know for this coming week:
- Thank you to all of our parents who expressed their willingness to serve on Community Council this year. Because of the great response, we will be holding Community Council elections this week. Electronic ballots can be found on your myDSD account starting Monday at 3:00 and going through Thursday, September 1.
- This is the last week for ordering PTA t-shirts! You can submit your order on Memberhub through the link below.
- Watch for information on our Wasatch Savings Book fundraiser that will come home this Friday, September 2.

School Information
School Lunch
We have GREAT news! Our kitchen staff is now fully staffed, and we will be returning to a full menu starting the week of Tuesday, September 6.
Here is an update about our lunch schedule. All elementary schools in the district are required to have a 30 minute lunch to be in compliance with the number of instructional minutes required by the state. We had to decrease our lunch time by five minutes this year to meet this requirement. However, with new procedures we have implemented in the lunchroom, students spend very little time in line and end up with more time devoted to eating and playing than before. All students spend 15 minutes in the lunchroom before being excused for recess. At the 15 minute mark, students are told they may head out to recess if they are finished, but they are not told they need to leave. After the 15 minute mark, students continue to eat until they are finished, and then they are free to head right out to recess.
