Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength" M. Gandhi

Monthly Reports
· I will be pulling information for the September monthly reports on Friday 9/29 and Monday 10/2.
· The same items are on the report, plus your classroom bulletin boards and white boards.
· The report is due out on 10/5. I will send your charts before then.
Monthly Meetings
· Monthly meetings on 10/6 owl babies @ 1, bees @ 2, fox tots @ 3; 10/11 pandas @ 12:15; 10/13 DA @ 9; Lions @10; CLK @ 11; LEO @ 1; Perky @ 2; Dino @ 3 on 10/20 LKV @ 1.
· Meetings in Room 1. Be sure to bring your reflection journal
ASQ
· Charts went out if you have any questions or found any errors please let me know
· ASQ and ASQSE strategies are required for all students who score in the below or monitoring levels
· ASQ Strategies for GSRP students are due 10/6
· The first follow up dates are 1/12/18 – any student with strategies must be rescreened BY this date
· Parents were required to initial a copy of the ASQ and that copy needs to be returned to me, I will file them
COR
· COR is up and running. Everyone has a login. Let me know if there is a problem with yours.
· Check your Portal Page and email me all parents that have accepted your invitation and who has not. We will track who has accepted the invitation and make sure they knew what it was and what they are turning down.
· I will be reviewing COR notes for completion, appropriate items and levels in October and November
PQA
· All classrooms will have either a PQA or PQA Goal Review this fall.
· Goal reviews for LKV & LEO GSRP, Dino, perky & pandas in October/November.
· Full PQA at CLK, DA, & OELC GSRP in October
· Full PQA in all of the infant/toddler Programs this fall, Pat Brauer and I will be working on scheduling
· PQA goals and progress toward goals will be a new part of Monthly Reports
Newsletters
· Due to families before the first of the month
· Use Template in Shred Drive it has the right logos and so on
· Dates for October: please mention that there are GSRP openings in Leonard, Lakeville and Clear Lake. The Parent Activity on October 19 and the early release day on October 31.
· Beware of clip art – for example use a generic approach to avoid offending any of our families or staff (for example –instead of ghosts for October Newsletters use colored leaves; it doesn’t take away from the information – but it goes along way to not offend anyone offended by ghosts “all saints eve”; Turkeys may offend vegetarian families and so on)
· It can be difficult to know every detail of an event a month before it takes place, so be sure to post details as the time gets closer, typically parents want to know when an event takes place
Celebrations
· Remind families that they are welcome to bring snacks for birthdays and so on, however, home made baked goods may not be served at school. Families who would like to bring items to be eaten at school must be commercially prepared (cup cakes from meijers or unopened crackers, better yet individually wrapped snacks) Better snacks are always healthy choices such as fruit. There is a big initiative to work to remove food from every celebration as a means of curbing obesity in children and adults. A birthday ring, hat, other toy is often as much fun for kids as a cup cake or cookie.
· Halloween is coming up and many teachers have asked about what is allowed at OELC, please see me and I will explain. Basically ask yourself some of these questions and if you answer yes, think about it and see me:
o Will children’s routine be disrupted (centers during work time)?
o Does the activity follow our curriculum, is there intention behind the activity?
o Are parents involved in a meaningful way?
o Does the activity expect more than children of this age group could be expected to do? Wait in line, walk in straight lines and so on?
o Do you think High Scope or Licensing would embrace your idea?
Lesson Plans
· Everyone has been using the first 30 Days as lesson plan
· Over the past couple weeks and everyday in October, all teachers are expected to use the COR lesson plan form and transfer the information from the 1st 30 Days to the Lesson plan form. I will review them in October.
