Dahl's Early Life

On 9/13/1916 Roald Dahl was born in Llandaff, Wales. He was the second child. He had many siblings, which included 4 sisters and 1 brother. In 1918 he moved to Radyr. In 1920, his first tragedy happened, his father died that year. He moved back to Llandaff the following year. In 1929, he moved to Repton, where he finished the rest of his education. In 1934, Roald started working for Shell Oil. In 1939, Roald decided to join the Royal Air Force when war broke out in Europe. In the following year, he got into a plane crash. He left the army after that.

Roald's Later Life

In 1942, Dahl completed hiss first paid piece of writing. He published "The Gremlins" in 1943. In 1946, Roald completed his first short collection of books. In 1951, he met American actress Patricia Neal, his future wife. In 1953, he marries Patricia Neal. In 1955, his first child, Olivia Dahl, is born. In 1957, his second child, Tessa Dahl, is born; and appears in Alfred Hitchcock Presents. His third child, Theo Dahl, is born in 1960. He published one of his most popular novels, James and the Giant Peach in 1961. In 1962, his first child, Olivia Dahl, died. Ophelia Dahl was born in 1964. In that same year, Roald's mother died. In 1977, his first grandchild is born. He separated from Patricia Neal in 1981. Tragically, Roald Dahl died in 1990. Even, so his works continued to be published and is still a celebrated writer today.
