NO SCHOOL This Monday, January 21, 2019 Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

On Nov. 3, 1983, President Ronald Reagan signed a bill marking the third Monday of every January, as Martin Luther King, Jr., Day, a federal holiday. The holiday began in 1986 and celebrates the life and achievements of Martin Luther King Jr., the influential American civil rights leader. He is most well-known for his campaigns to end racial segregation on public transport and for racial equality in the United States.

Military Appreciation Night Tomorrow

As part of the Statewide Military Appreciation Night, veterans will be admitted free and will be recognized during the boys basketball games tomorrow night AT WAPAK. Veterans are asked to contact rexbr@wapak.org if you plan to attend.

Welcome Kayla Miller-Middle School Intern

New in 2019, Mrs. Langstaff, our social worker in the middle school, is happy to welcome Kayla Miller as a Social Work Intern. Kayla is expected to graduate from OSU in May of this year with her Master's degree. She earned her BSSW in 2018 also from OSU. Kayla grew up in Spencerville and graduated in 2011. She loves working with children and hopes to work in the education system as a School Social Worker. Welcome to Elida, Kayla!

Todd Elwer Benefit this Saturday, January 19th

A benefit is being held for Elida's Head of Maintenance Todd Elwer Sat., Jan. 19th at the Delphos K of C Hall from 4:00-10:00 pm.

This community event will include silent and live auctions with great items, pull tabs, 50/50 raffle, a DJ with Singo, a kids corner and more all to help support this family.


A good event to help a great family. Hope to see you there!

Elida musicians scheduled to perform at OMEA Concert

Elida High School will have representatives in the Ohio Music Education Association District 3 Honors Band, Choir and Jazz Band concert to be held this Sunday, January 20th at 3:00 in the Van Wert Niswonger Performing Arts Center.

O.M.E.A. District 3 represents 8 Counties and over 60 High Schools.

Members of the Elida H.S. Music Department that will participate include the following: Concert Band- Thomas Williamson, Sophomore- Bass ClarinetEthan Bowersock, Junior- Euphonium Jazz Band-Isaiah Wolfert, Senior- Alto Saxophone

Choir-Ryan Vetters, Junior- Tenor

School Board Updates

At the January 15th Elida School Board meeting the calendar for next school year 2019-20 was approved. Click the link to view the calendar. The board named Mrs. Brenda Stocker as the President, and Mr. Barry Barnt as Vice President. The regular monthly meeting dates were established for the calendar year 2019. All meetings will be held in the High School Community Room and will begin at 7:00 p.m. For a list of meeting dates go to the Board webpage linked here.

Spring For the STARS Vendor Show

The annual Spring for the STARS Vendor and Craft Fair will be held on Sat., March 9th from 10:00-4:00pm in the high school gyms. This event helps to support our elementary STARS program. There are many vendors who participate with great items at great prices, plus giveaways, prizes and more.

We are accepting vendor contracts until February 22nd. Use this VENDOR CONTRACT to sign up. For more information, contact Nicole Oen at noen@elida.k12.oh.us

EHS Spring Musical: Newsies

The Spring Musical Newsies is coming!

March 14, 15, 16 at 7:30pm

March 17th at 4:00pm

“Newsies The Musical” is based on the 1992 musical film Newsies, which was inspired by the real-life Newsboys Strike of 1899 in New York City.

Ticket Prices:

$12 Premiere Seating any age

Regular Reserved Seating $10 Adults, $6 Students

Tickets go on sale to the general public: Thursday Feb. 14th
