Message from the Principal
This week we will be experiencing colder weather beginning on Wednesday. Please take the time to write your child's name in their jacket. If there is nowhere to write their name here is a trick to try. Use a small square of fabric from an old t-shirt and write their name in sharpie and then use a safety pin to attach to the inside of the jacket. Every year we have a many jackets that are left on the playground, in the cafeteria, in a specials class etc. and try as we might, reconnecting the owner to their jacket even with a lost and found area, sometimes proves to be unsuccessful. Jackets that are lost and go unclaimed are eventually donated to HAAM.
Parent invited events will be gradually increasing beginning with the Annual Character Parade. Parents are invited this Friday to join around the outside of the school to watch the children parade in a costume depicting their favorite character from a book. If there is rain, parents may come in the cafeteria and we will adjust the route. The next event is our Veteran's Day Luncheon. Children are welcome to ask a Veteran or active service member to join them for lunch on Thursday, November 11. If the guest is bringing lunch for your child and they usually eat in the cafeteria please let the teacher know so we can help our Child Nutrition department prepare for the day. Your child's teacher will be reaching out with an RSVP soon so we can get a head count as well as asking for a picture and information about your Veteran or active service member. We will complete the day with an evening performance of the 3rd Graders commemorating our service men and women at 5:30pm.
Our final event before Thanksgiving Break is our annual Turkey Trot. The Turkey Trot will take place during special class and we would love to have you come out and run some laps with your child. Please look for event information through class DOJO.

Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country. Red Ribbon Week commemorates the ultimate sacrifice made by Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA)Special Agent Enriqueโ Kikiโ Camarena, who died at the hands of drug traffickers in Mexico while fighting the battle against illegal drugs to keep our country and children safe. Red Ribbon Week is a way for us to remember the sacrifices made by Kiki Camarena, but most importantly it is used as a way of taking a stand for our hopes and dreams through making a commitment of just saying no to drugs and alcohol.
