President's Update
Howdy Pardner's,
Thought it's another good time to send up another smoke signal; and remind all of our upcoming exciting plans!
Our next ride will be held on February 9th, and will be the Camp Creek Falls ride with trail boss Donna Russ. Thanks Donna. This is a beautiful ride and I hope you can all join us!
Next up (Feb 17th) is our Valentine's ride which will be held on the Anthem Trail/Maricopa trail in Desert Hills. Immediately following this ride we will be serving a Pizza lunch to all riders and guests at our home., also known as the world famous Painted Sky Ranch.
Our place is located at 38816 N 15th Ave, in Desert Hills. I will be leading this ride, and look forward to seeing all of you!
The Team Sorting was postponed due to adverse weather conditions and has been rescheduled for Saturday March 9th! So here is another chance to sign up for the sorting event. We had 18 sign up for the first one and I am personally looking forward to this fun event.
Our next meeting is being held at a new venue! We are excited to announce that we will be meeting on February 26th, which is the fourth Tuesday of the month. We are meeting at Cave Creek's Heavens Kaffee located at 37645 N Cave Creek Rd, 85331, We will start our social hour as usual at 6:30 and the meeting is set to run from 7-8pm. Our guest speaker will be Larry Nelles of Arizona Performance Horses, who will be speaking to us about the "bits" we use on our equine friends. This valuable presentation will be another example of how to improve our equine performance.
Our last meeting reported thirty attendees, and Dr Godbee favored us with his presentation on equine nutrition. My personal thanks to Kathryn for inviting Richard. He was awesome!
Happy Trails

UPCOMING RIDES - RSVP ON CCSC WEBSITE
Camp Creek Falls Trail Ride
Rideout: 10:00 am
Length: 3 - 4 Hours
Level: 3
Leader: Donna Russ
Description: The terrain varies from soft sand trail/wash to up and down in the rocks. Pack some food. There is one Step Over.
Directions: From Cave Creek Road and Carefree Highway, go north on Cave Creek Road and it will turn eastbound as you enter Cave Creek and you continue east as you go through Carefree. This continues east as you cross Scottsdale Rd (aka Tom Darlington) and Pima Road (for anyone coming from the south). From Pima Road, it's 7 miles to the parking lot. You'll see the Bartlett Lake turn off - DO NOT TAKE IT! The road curves north toward Seven Springs. There's a golf course on your right. Tonto Hills is on the left. Continue through several small washes and when you come to the GRANDDADDY of WASHES and a very tight 15 mph switchback so prepare to turn right. There's a dirt road immediately (marked FH1058) just after the wash. Take it to the right and a short way down there's lots of dirt to park on. There is pavement all the way until the turnoff and a couple hundred yards of dirt road and the parking area is dirt. .
