Tis the Season to be Reading
Arapaho Classical Magnet Library Media Center
Thank you!
Thank you for the incredible support of our Book Fair. It warms my heart to see all of the families sharing the love of books and picking out just the right ones for everyone. Also a big thank you to all of the volunteers that helped make it successful, I could not have the Book Fair without your help! An especially big Thank you to Heather Schmidt for organizing all of the volunteers and filling in when needed.
I'm so excited about the things I purchased with the profit from our Book Fair. We will be having a Makerspace in our library soon and I got many fun, intriguing, and challenging items to put in our Makerspace. More details on what a Makerspace is coming soon!
All this and MORE available at the Library!
We have much more than books to check out from the library... we have ebooks and audiobooks from Overdrive, Tumblebooks and Destiny Discover for checkout through the library website. As well as PebbleGo, National Geographic Kids, and Discovery Education from the Discovery Channel that include videos, images and general information about a multitude of subjects. These and much more can be accessed through ClassLink using your child's username and password, as these are all paid subscriptions.
Keeping Your Kids Safe Online
Keeping all of our students safe while on the internet is one of major goals as the Library and Information Technology Educator or LITE at ACM. This fall all of our students have learned the rules for following the RISD Responsible Use Guidelines (RUG) so that they can safely use our devices at school. We have learned about not sharing any private information while on the internet, creating a good password, using safe websites, and Mrs. Planey has talked with us about Cyberbullying. We will be learning about the dangers of pop-ups as we finish the year.
Summer Reading Celebration
More than 80 ACM students participated in the Summer Reading Program this past summer. We celebrated with a Magical party in September and sent home many amateur magicians. We love reading old and new books so
if you have a suggestion for a book to add to our library please share it with me by filling out this short form.
Fright Night Family Reading Night
We had a full house for our ninth annual Fright Night Family Reading Night in October with 60+ Storybook Pumpkins, crafts for the kids, stories for the kids and a Readers Theater presented by Mrs. Cooper's students.
Searching for Information
Using our iPads and chromebooks we look for information about subjects assigned and of our choosing. We also make create many projects using our devices to demonstrate what we are learning and so that we may share with others.
