The Patriot Premier

The Weekly Update for NPHS families, Nov 25 - Nov 30, 2019

Hello Patriot Family!

Last week, was a good week. In addition to a full course menu of academic learning, our girl wrestlers won first place at the Lancer wrestling tournament in Wasilla, art students painted holiday decorations on the glass of our school doors, and band students entertained students with a mini-concert during lunch.

This coming week is a short week for students and staff as we celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday. Did you know that the first "Thanksgiving" in 1621 was a feast that included lobster, seal, and swan for a group of about 90 Native Americans (Wampanoag tribesman) and 50 pilgrims? Given this, plus the fact that November is Alaska Native Heritage Month, it seems fitting that we will be celebrating with the Pavva Inupiaq Dancers at a school assembly in our gym this coming Wednesday. And, don't forget that it's not too late to bring in a frozen turkey, pie, or canned goods for our food drive which ends also on Wednesday, November 27th.

Parents: We need your feedback. Would you take this short survey telling us what you think about a proposal to change our weekly schedule second semester? Click here...thanks.

Psychologists tell us that being grateful for what we already have helps us focus on the positive, and improves our overall outlook on life. So on that note, I wish you and your family a happy Thanksgiving!
