TRUST: Our One Word
From the Office...
- With winter weather upon us, please adhere to the following guidelines:
- Please remember to save Box Tops for Education, Richmond Food Pride receipts and Teal's receipts. We are also part of the Cashwise More Rewards, Target Take Charge of Education and Arvig School Partnership Programs (simply designate Richmond Elementary as the school you would like to support.) Richmond PTC also receives 8% of every purchase from Shutterfly using this link: ShutterflyRichmondPTC. Richmond Elementary School received a check for $1000 from Richmond Food Pride again last spring as well as quarterly Arvig and Target donations!! Your efforts are certainly appreciated!!
- Just a gentle reminder of the new this year ROCORI Wellness Policy sent home in Open House folders: the new policy does focus on building healthy habits and having fun instead of food for birthday and other celebrations. Our staff will do their very best to make sure each child feels valued and recognized on his or her birthday. A highlight of my days is finding each student on his/her birthday to share a birthday pencil and to hear a little about upcoming plans. With that, we ask that you please do not send birthday food or treats of any kind with your child on their birthday. We thank you for your help with this change; a copy of the letter as well as birthday ideas for parents is attached below. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me or any member of the Wellness Committee (noted on the attached letter as well.)

Title One
Dear Parents,
We have been busy working on math and reading skills in our small groups as well as completing district assessments (January 3rd -17th). Our last day of Title l services was January 24th. We will begin Session 2 the week of February 4th.
Our district utilizes the assessment data from January assessments along with classroom data to determine which students qualify for Title l services. Title staff, teachers, and principals meet as a team to make this determination.
If your child qualified for Title l services, you will receive a welcome letter in your child’s Friday folder by February 1st. If your child was receiving Title services for Session 1 and assessment data shows they no longer show a need for services, you will receive an exit letter stating that your child’s progress will be monitored.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like more information on intervention services.
Thank You! schlangens@rocori.k12.mn.us

From Our Kitchen
- Once a month we will have breakfast with a Special Guest. We have Guests scheduled for several months; some may be school employees and others may not. Each Guest will give a very short talk about who they are and what their job is. Please ask your son or daughter about the Special Guest we had in January!
- ROCORI food service's mission is to fuel the minds and bodies of our students with nutritious and sustaining meals so they can thrive both physically and mentally, while instilling lifelong eating habits. We offer daily free breakfast for all students, including late start mornings.
