Curriculum & Instruction BOE Update
December 2017
KESA Accreditation Update
We will be meeting again in February to narrow down the details of the specific goals. Then our staff will be allowed to give input on those goals before we establish them by May 2018.
Wellness Committee
Something to think about..........as the largest employer in the district, these type of events for our staff not only help our employees but also our community and parents of students. It's a win win for sure!
Professional Learning
January 2nd- We will kick off the second semester with a Battle of the Buildings, Test Security, and curriculum alignment in the morning and a work day in the afternoon.
We recently had our Pathways to Reading trainer come and visit our year 1 teachers. She will be providing year two training to our year two teachers in early January.
The 6-12 Social Studies team is currently working on resource adoption. We will have a recommendation in the spring for the BOE!
Technology Teams: Curriculum & Advisement
During our advisement meeting we discussed the ratios of devices, use of devices/minutes for various age levels, and current leases. Our staff laptops are almost all out! A huge thank you to Michelle and Ben for their efforts in making this happen!
Although we are supporters of technology and it's benefits, we are also aware of the dangers that potentially exist. By danger, we mean the inappropriate use, too much use, and the lack of "personal time" that devices take away from us. It is a balancing act for sure, but one we need to embrace and constantly reflect on. Below is an article that was give to me by Nick Brummet, Counselor at CCCMS. It is titled, "The scary truth about what is hurting our kids". Please take a moment to read it. It will be worth your time.
