News from Carl Sandburg Junior High
February 22, 2022
A Note from Mrs. Johansen
Dear Sandburg Families,
I hope you enjoyed the long weekend. As you know, the students are home today because today is a teacher plan day. Sandburg staff are hard at work planning for upcoming instruction as we head into the final months of this school year.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, February 23, 2022 begins the adjusted time schedule due to the bus driver shortage as previously shared by the district. The details are as follows:
- Arrival supervision and breakfast service begins at 7:20.
- Instruction begins at 7:35 am.
- Dismissal M-Th is at 2:15
- Clubs/sports dismiss at 4:00. Activity buses will leave at 4:00 (not 4:15).
- Our new bell schedule is posted below.
For Bus Riders
To view your student’s updated bus schedule, log into Campus Parent and click the More menu item on the left side to show the Transportation option:
Clicking on the Transportation item will display the details such as the Pickup and Dropoff times, Stop details, etc. for the selected student.
Please know the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) still has an order in place requiring anyone on public transportation, including school buses, to wear a mask. Therefore, all students must wear a mask while riding on a D15 bus to and from school unless we have a medical mask exemption on file.
Thank you for your patience as we work through yet another change. Feel free to email and ask questions as they come up.
If your student is looking to participate in Girls Soccer or Track and Field, please make sure you have a current physical on file in the nurse's office. The registration information will go out after March 1st.
Have a great week!
Erika Johansen
5Essentials Survey is here!
You have been invited to complete the Illinois 5Essentials Parent Survey. The information you provide will help guide improvement as we strive to inspire each student to realize their potential. Your participation in this survey is voluntary but crucial. We can’t receive results from the survey unless at least 20 percent of parents respond. The more responses parents provide, the more we will know how to focus our efforts toward the improvements you want. Please help us reach our goal by completing the survey.
· Go to: https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois to take the survey.
· Select “Parent Survey.”
· You may enter your email address if you would like to receive confirmation of your submission, but it is not required.
· Then enter “Cook” into the county field and “Carl Sandburg” to find our school. Be sure to select Carl Sandburg Junior High at 2600 Martin Lane in Rolling Meadows.
You will then be asked a series of questions to provide input regarding your family’s experience here at Carl Sandburg. Please remember to click “submit” once you are done so your responses can be counted.
Please know that your identity and responses will be kept confidential and will not be connected with your child. If you have multiple children who attend Lincoln, you may complete one survey for each child. However, only one parent per household may submit a survey for a given child. The survey closes on March 11, so please submit your responses soon!
Thank you in advance for your time and input. We appreciate you!
If you have any questions about the survey, please contact 5Essentials Customer Support at 1-866-440-1874 or 5essentials@uchicago.edu.
8th grade Graduation PIctures are March 1st!
PATH Community Closet
We are hoping you can help by donating any unwanted clothing items at our school’s yellow clothing donation bin. The bin is located in Sandburg's lobby. Parents or children can place clothing items into their school’s yellow bin during regular school hours. This is a great way to put your children’s gently used and outgrown clothing to good use! All clothing, especially winter wear, is much appreciated and will be put to good use.
