Integrators of the Month!
Leigh Carter - Spring Hill Middle
Math has never been so interactive and down right gamified! Ms. Carter,at Spring Hill Middle School, innovatively uses Quizlet Live to introduce new vocabulary to her students, engaging them in an interactive relay game. Not only is this a fun, engaging instructional strategy, it gets the students up, moving, and competing to beat the clock and other teams. Students are having fun, learning, and not even realizing that it is purposeful instruction connected to their current lesson. Great job, Ms. Carter! Keep up the awesome use of this digital tool!
Misty Peed - Laurel Hill Elementary
Want to learn how to effectively integrate a digital, project-based learning activity within your lesson? Go see Misty Peed at Laurel Hill Elementary. Her digitally integrated projects require that students engage in purposeful online research, real-world problem solving, and peer collaboration in order to complete one comprehensive, authentic, and relevant task directly related to their current lesson. In February, her fourth graders planned a birthday party, right down to virtually buying ingredients for a cake recipe. This project aligned with her lesson on fractions, and the students expressed their enjoyment of the activity. Thanks for the hard work, Ms. Peed.
Barbara Simpson - Shaw Academy
The Arts and Culture are two extremely important subject areas that can be integrated within almost any instructional content. But what about integrating other content areas into an art lesson? Mrs. Simpson is doing just that, as well as throwing in a little digital teaching and learning to boot! During Black History Month, Mrs. Simpson took her students on a virtual field trips of notable art and history museums; she also began to digitally curate some of her students artwork, showing them the possibilities showcasing their work for the global community. Excellent use of technology, Mrs. Simpson!
