October 2023 Parent Newsletter
Boletín para padres de octubre de 2023
Thank you
A huge thank you to all our teachers for all the hard work they did in preparing for parent teacher conferences. Thank you also to the many family members who attended Parent Teacher Conferences . It really is a team effort to help every child succeed. When parents and teachers work well together, everyone benefits. Parents and teachers can provide each other with unique insight and different perspectives about their child, creating a more complete understanding for the child, such as their abilities, strengths, and challenges. A successful parent-teacher partnership also shows a child that an entire team of adults are on their side.
Parent Teacher Association (PTA)
Thank you to everyone who joined us at our last meeting. We were excited to welcome 4 new parents and valued their fresh ideas and input. We look forward to even more parents at our next meeting on October 24th, at 3pm. We encourage all parents to join us. If your child stays for tutoring, we finish at 4:00, which is the same time our after school tutoring session ends. We will be finalizing plans for our Fall Fiesta. PTA is still in need of a Secretary. Please consider being our PTA Secretary. Meetings are only once a month and PTA does so much for our staff, students, and school.
Fall Fiesta
Our annual Fall Fiesta is one of our biggest fundraisers and it is always a fun evening for our students and families. We need your support to have a successful Fall Fiesta. We are asking for the following donations:

We would like to say a big Thank you to one of our parents- Mr. Robles, with Festivity Rental, who has generously donated a jumping castle for our event.
We look forward to welcoming all our students and their families for our Fall Fiesta on Friday, October 27th, from 4:30-6:30pm. Students must be accompanied by an adult. Students may wear costumes that evening, but not to school on that day. Students will be permitted to wear costumes to school on Oct. 31st.
Pre-sale tickets for the Fall Fiesta will be 5 tickets for $1, from Oct. 16-Oct. 26. Tickets will be 4 for $1 on Oct. 27th.
Literacy Night
Please join us on Tuesday, October 17th, from 5-6pm. We will be sharing fun ways to help support your child's reading goals at home. This event is for all grades, Kinder-5th grade. You can visit many teachers to learn lots of fun strategies, games, and tips for reading. There will also be a chance to win some prizes and all students will receive free books to take home.
Tiendita Donations Appreciated
We would greatly appreciate donations of gently used or new toys, small gifts, etc. for our tiendita. Our students earn Coyote Howls for being respectful, Responsible, and Kind. Then, every other Wednesday, students take their Coyote Howls to our tiendita to cash them in for prizes. Thank you for thinking of us when you clean out your child's room.
Counselor Corner
Hello families! We have been busy at Mission View learning how to interact positively with each other and be responsible students. This upcoming month we will be discussing conflict resolution and healthy relationships. Students will learn how to resolve conflict and increase self-awareness in their own thoughts and feelings. Students will also be exploring the character trait of the month; gratitude. What a perfect month to dive into how much appreciating each other helps develop a positive self.
School Community Liaison
I would like to introduce you to our School Community Liaison, Jannette Gastelum. Her role is to serve and connect our school and community. She can provide our families with different resources needed between home and school to further students' academic and social success. If you are in need of clothes, food, or housing, please don't hesitate to stop by the office and she will be more than happy to refer you to the appropriate community or school resources.
