From the Counselors' Office
At this time the counselors have met with all senior students. The following topics were covered during the meetings:
- College Application Process
- Sending Transcripts (students created a Parchment account)
- Submitting SAT scores
- Retaking the SAT
- NCAA Clearinghouse (for those students thinking about playing college sports)
- Events provided by Blue Water College Access Network
Please ask your student to see all the handouts they received. A Remind was also created to quickly provide students with reminders. Parents are welcome to sign up for it as well.
Students were encouraged to sign up to see their counselor if they need assistance.
H & R Block Budget Challenge
Mrs. Gardner's Financial Management classes are starting the H&R Block Budget Challenge this week. The online simulation runs until December 6th. Students have the opportunity to win a $20,000 scholarship if they place in the top 5 in the United States. The 1st place winner at Marine City High School will receive a $500 scholarship courtesy of Northstar Bank in St. Clair. The 2nd place winner will receive a Chromebook courtesy of the Marine City branch of H&R Block. A huge thank you goes out to Northstar Bank and H&R Block for supporting our students year after year.
Costa Rica Trip 2020
Are you interested in hiking through jungles, kayaking in the Arenal Lake, horseback riding in the mountains, zip lining through a rain forest, soaking in hot springs, and learning about life and culture of another country? MCHS is offering a trip to Costa Rica during next year's spring break (March 2020). Any 8th-11th grade student this year, as well as parents, are invited to go on the trip. It's an amazing nine-day adventure that you won't want to miss.
We are currently signing up travelers. You want to sign up as early as possible to secure your spot and get the best deal.
Contact Kristen Humble (Spanish I teacher) for further details.
