Animals and Plants
Deciduous means that these plants lose their leaves every year and grow them back, this adaptation helps the trees in the forest survive winter. To prepare for winter, deciduous trees and plants become dormant.Animals living within this biome must adjust to cold winters and hot summers by hibernating, migrating or keeping active all winter. The Temperate Deciduous Forest are located primarily in the eastern half of the United States, Canada, Europe, parts of Russia, China, and Japan. Much of the human population lives in this biome. Mammals that are commonly found in a deciduous forest include bears, raccoon's, squirrels, skunks, and in the U.S., deer can be found in these forests. Migration and hibernation are two adaptations used by the animals in this biome. Another behavioral adaptation some animals have adopted is food storage.
