December Already?
News from Mr. Foreman's Fourth Grade Class
Winter Performance Tuesday, Dec. 9th
Composers, Waltzers, Performers, and the list goes on. On Tuesday the 9th of December, we will have our class performance at 6 p.m. If you are unable to make it in the evening, we will also be performing it that day at 1:20 p.m. With six fourth grade classes, there are two days of performances, so you may talk to a parent or other student who has a performance on the 10th, please don't confuse the days. In addition, if you know your child is unable to attend the evening performance, please let us know ASAP. This show has the most student parts they have ever done and we will need to find an understudy if your child is unable to attend.
Finally, A Full Week
The next three weeks will see quite a full schedule for the students. We will finish up our Native Virginians unit this week with a mini-project in class and a test on Friday. We will start a new word study unit and TFK lesson on Monday. In addition, we will have a Greek and Latin root quiz on Thursday. Students are working on a "How-To" writing project to explain how to perform a simple task. Ask your student to let you read their work and see if their instructions make sense to you. These will be due on Wednesday.
The Buzz in Fourth Grade
Next Monday we will start our electricity unit. In our Monday folders last week, the students had an orange flyer with the supply list they will need for the unit. Please let me know if you are unsure of what they need. And a disclaimer, there are always one or two students who claim horrific burns or being electrocuted when they are working on this unit. We are using batteries, small ones at that, and no fourth graders have ever been injured in this unit.
