Share your input and help shape our Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP)
The San Juan Unified community is invited to tell us what our schools are doing well and what we can do better to help our students and families. Feedback collected will help develop the district’s 2023-24 Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP). Share your thoughts now through Nov. 18 by participating in a Thoughtexchange at www.sanjuan.edu/LCAPinput.
If you haven’t participated in a Thoughtexchange before, you’ll have the chance to share your thoughts and ideas, see what others have shared and rank those that resonate with you.
We still need one more parent! School Site Council Position Open
Mental health resources available to students and families through Care Solace partnership
San Juan Unified is committed to raising awareness about mental health and equitable access to quality mental health services.
With World Mental Health Day approaching on Oct. 10, the district would like to remind students and their families about our ongoing partnership with Care Solace. Care Solace is a free online resource with a live 24/7 service that helps individuals find local mental health and counseling services.

Free Meals for All Students
We have some great helpers at lunchtime, but here are some helpful tips to prepare younger students for school meal times:
- practice opening/closing containers/packaging at home - especially milk cartons
- talk to students about raising their hand to ask for assistance from staff
- if bringing lunch from home, talk to students about what goes in the trash and what goes back in the lunch box
- talk to students about staying seated and raising their hand to line up, use the restroom, etc.
- talk to students about collecting their trash and cleaning up their space after eating
Please communicate as appropriate to teachers, office staff, nurtition services staff and Rec Aids about:
- food allergies/restrictions
- specific feeding needs/supports or accommodations
Please be aware that students do not have access to a microwave and are expected to be relatively independent in the cafeteria. Assistance is available, but limited. If you have concerns, please communicate directly with our office so we can discuss options for support.
