Welcome 6th Grade Attea Orchestra

So excited to have you in the program this year!

Morning Rehearsals

Greetings parents and students,

We are off to a great start to the year! As you know by now all 6th grade students are in the Philharmonic Orchestra. Students should come to morning rehearsals on L & R days. Please check the Attea Band, Orchestra, Choir (BOC)) Calendar for the rehearsals days, as you can see the days rotate each week so please do check it frequently.

Rehearsals start promptly at 7:25am carpooling and early buses are available for all students.

Students get one lesson a week with me or Ms. Tatz from Springman. If your child's lesson is on Monday they are with Ms. Tatz, she is new to helping me this year since I have an overflow of students at Pleasant Ridge and Attea. If your child went to Glen Grove or Hoffman they will have lessons on Monday, Ms. Tatz will be focusing on reading music with the kids this first semester. If you have any questions for her please email her at ttatz@glenview34.org. If your students is during a Monday Lesson they need the Essential Elements Book 1 for lessons and a pencil.

If your child went to Pleasant Ridge and knows how to read music they will be working with me for their lesson on Friday morning, please check the schedule below. If you have any questions about anything please email me at mkall@glenview34.org.

Students will receive 10 points for coming to lessons, if they miss their lesson they will receive a zero. Please help your children to remember to come to lessons. They should also be practicing at least 3 times a week for 25 minutes minimum. If you are interested in private lessons please consider Anderson Music Company, Merit School of Music, Midwest Young Artists, or Terra Sounds on Waukegan Road.

All students should have ordered a polo by now. Polo's need to be worn for all concerts and will be required for all band, choir, and orchestra performances. Polo's will be distributed in a few weeks in time for the concert on November 10th.

Lastly, students should have a proper chin rest for their experience here at Attea. I recommend the KUN chin rest which runs about $20. The sponge that comes with their instrument is good for 4th and 5th grade but the professional chin rest will help their posture and overall success on their instrument.
