Hiring Events and Training Opportunities

Manufirst SC to be Offered at McClenaghan

In partnership with Florence Darlington Technical College and SC Vocational Rehabilitation, McClenaghan will host a Manufirst SC cohort from Monday, September 26-Thursday, November 4 (interviews on Friday, Nov. 5) from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week. During the course, which some employers count as a year's worth of manufacturing experience, students will learn about the following topics:


  • Quality Systems, 5-S Continuous Improvement
  • Quality Audits
  • Lean Production
  • Soft Skills- Communication, Teamwork, Conflict Management
  • Customer Communications
  • Craft Math
  • Precision Measurement
  • Conditioning, Finishing & Assembly
  • Recognizing Problems
  • Lock Out/Tag Out


A completed GED or diploma is NOT required for this class. If you are interested in a scholarship to attend this class, please contact Anne Stone (anne.stone@fsd1.org).

Well Suited For Work

Well Suited for Work has begun a partnership with Florence County Adult Education to provide interview attire, professional accessories, and coaching to interested students and recent graduates who have interviews scheduled or are beginning a new job. Since SC Works is hosting a job fair at McClenaghan on November 10, students might be interested in making an appointment for this service. Appointments can be made by contacting your CCN. Cross and Crown Lutheran is conveniently located on PDRTA route 1 on West Palmetto Street. Clients who make appointments will be able to go to the church for a fitting session "tailored" especially for them!

McLeod Access Health Pee Dee

Did you know that you might qualify for free health care? McLeod Health Access Pee Dee will be at McClenaghan on Thursday, September 8, from 8:30 to noon to meet with interested students-- all students are welcome. If possible, please bring the documents mentioned on the flyer below.

GED by 23 Scholarships

We are excited that you may be able to benefit from an agreement between SC technical colleges and SC adult education that can pay tuition for technical certifications and degrees! In order to access these monies, Florence County Adult Ed must send documentation to FDTC or another technical school of your participation in adult education. Please see the flyer below for qualifying details. Contact your CCN with questions!

Four Year Colleges: SAT, FMU, and More

If you are planning to head towards a four year college after graduation, now is the time to apply! Francis Marion University's application for the upcoming school year is now available, and the application fee is waived at this time. Apply here: https://www.fmarion.edu/admissions/applynow/ .


If you would like to see the school and find out more about available majors, financial aid, and other topics, you can register for an open house on one of the following dates: Saturday, 9/24, Saturday, 10/15, or Saturday, 11/12. The website also states, "The benefit provides a discount of up to $30 per month toward internet service for eligible households and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer, or tablet from participating providers if they contribute more than $10 and less than $50 toward the purchase price."
