"Give Your Best Nothing Less"
This Sunday elementary kids are learning "Give Your Best, Nothing Less" as we teach on The Widow's Offering.
Think about that phrase, "she gave everything she had" and ask the Lord what He wants to stir in your heart from that. For me, He tells me very clearly THIS should be your posture. THIS is your purpose.
I am free to be generous. I am free to give my time. Because I know that I am a child of the King, I am so confident in His ability to provide for me that the thought of freely giving shouldn't inspire stress or fear but will bring peace & joy.
When I understand that the universal purpose I have as a Christ-follower is for everything in me to give glory to God, it gives the phrase "Give Your Best, Nothing Less" much more meaning. The Lord is worthy of my best in whatever I'm giving- an offering, praise, my time with Him, serving, anything. The concept of "Give Your Best, Nothing Less" can easily be taken to an unhealthy place of behavior modification, but what if you looked at it from the perspective of your heart and your motives.
Reflect
1. What does the Lord bring to mind for you when you read the story of the Widow's Offering?
2. Before we can give of our finances or our time or anything else, we have to first examine our hearts: Is there any area within your heart that you're holding back or trying to control or hide?
