Happy New Year! Welcome to 2023!
Kudos to the CCA Transportation Department in Keeping our Students Safe
Bi-Annual Transportation Inspection Results
Joe Funk from the Department of Education and Iowa State Troopers inspected the CCA transportation fleet Tuesday. The results Joe shared post inspection were outstanding and he wanted to make sure everyone involved knows he appreciates visiting CCA due to the excellent preventive maintenance plan we have in place.
Of the 46 vehicles inspected only 7 were noted as having minor repairs (fix within 30 days). Zero vehicles were pulled from service! The minor repairs needed included such items as faded reflection stickers, a rubber seal around a window, a headlight with some moisture inside, and a couple clearance lights.
Bottom line.....Kevin Pirkl's leadership in the shop along with John Yoder's help continues to put our staff and students in safe and reliable equipment daily! Great job guys!
School Board approves the 2023-2024 School Calendar
All Staff and administration have had a chance to review and comment on the proposed calendar as presented. CCA reports instructional time in hours and needs 1,080 instructional hours per school year. Some items to note on the proposed 2023-2024 calendar are as follows:
- Teacher Professional Learning (PL) Days are added to both the Fall and Spring Semesters. These are reflected on November 7th and April 5th.
- There will be 10 instructional minutes added onto our school day. This will create 45 extra hours that we can utilize towards snow make-up. At this time, we are planning to add these minutes onto the end of our school day at all attendance centers.
- There are two additional days of no school added in April. These days are reflected on April 22nd-23rd.
- School will begin on Wednesday, August 23rd (per state law) and the last day of school is planned for Friday, May 31st.
Reminders:
1/04 - 2nd Semester Started
1/04 - School Board Work Session
1/16 - Martin Luther King Day - No School
1/18 - School Board Meeting
1/23 - Superintendent Roundtable Meeting
