State Names
We've started with our state memorization. Each week, students will get a study sheet to use at school and one to take home. We sing the states song along with a video at least once a day to practice. The first test will be next Tuesday. The tests are cumulative, so it's very important that the kids keep up with each week's work. The test format is to take a map with numbered states and match the numbers up to a list of all the states.
Conference Follow-Ups
It was wonderful to see so many of you for conferences over the last couple weeks. If we discussed items that required follow-up from me, please look for that information to come over email or in your child's SOAR folder by the end of this week. If you would like any additional information, or have questions, please feel free to contact me.
Homework Helper #4
This week we're starting on three of our challenge opportunities: CML (Continental Math League), data analysis surveys, and book clubs. These are optional groups. Students can join in as many groups as they like, and can change from one week to the next. Please help to remind your child that "regular" homework is first; then challenge opportunities are after that. This also applies at school--when students complete their "regular" work, one of their choices will be to do the challenges.
