Suwanee Express
Week of March 25th
Let's finish strong! Next, week we have our GMAS testing meeting after-school on Tuesday. Ms. Gray will be sending details to those who have to attend. I would also like to announce we are getting some support to finish the year. Retired AP, Ms. Nancy Childers will be supporting us staring Monday. She will be here 3 days a week for the remaining of the year. We just received this awesome news, so I will be sending out some details on job duties next week.
Also, teachers and staff please take time over spring break to relax and enjoy time with your family. This is an important time to really take an opportunity to refuel. When we get back, it's the time of year that flies and the busyness can sometimes be overwhelming. So, please do not open email and rest over spring break! :)
Thank you for all you do to support our students! I am so incredibly thankful to serve Suwanee!

Heather Skinner - 5th
Hi everyone, I’m Heather Skinner! I am in my 4th year of teaching, and overjoyed with excitement to begin working at Suwanee Elementary. Teaching young people has always been a passion of mine. I have just moved to the area from Mississippi. I have an awesome husband and a 1 year old baby boy! I enjoy spending time with friends and family, shopping, and taking my son on walks. I look forward to meeting you all in the upcoming school year!
Karen Freed - 3rd
I am looking forward to joining the Suwanee Elementary team for the 2019-2020 school year! I have taught second and third grade at Benefield Elementary for the past seven years.
I am originally from Michigan (go MSU Spartans!), but am a longtime City of Suwanee resident. Both of my children have or currently attend schools in the North Gwinnett cluster. My son is a junior a Georgia State University and my daughter will attend the University of South Carolina in August. I try and stay fit by running, hiking, and biking. My favorite way to spend my free time is simply enjoying the company of family and friends.
Katie Johnson - 3rd
Hi I’m Katie Johnson. I hold a Bachelor’s degree from Georgia College and State University in Accounting and a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Phoenix. I also have my gifted and ESOL certification. I have taught for 7 years, all in Gwinnett. I recently got married in December. My husband is also an educator and a high school football and baseball coach, so you can always find me at some sporting event during the year. I’m excited and look forward to joining the Suwanee family next school year!

Hi Everybody,
I have been honored to student teach at Suwanee in Third Grade this school year with Lisa Westpheling. You all have welcomed me more than I could have imagined. I am beyond thrilled to officially be a Jaguar beginning in August. I will be graduating from Georgia Gwinnett College in May and I am getting married on June 1st. I will be Madison Chiu for the 2019-2020 school year. I have two black lab puppies who keep us very busy at night. I love going for walks at the park and I enjoy working out in my free time. On the weekends, I usually am spending time with family and eating Mexican food. My happy place is Seaside, Florida and when I have time I enjoy curling up with a good book.
Once again thank you so much for welcoming me and I cannot wait to be a part of the fabulous First Grade team beginning in just a few months! 😊
