Thank you to all of our families, students and staff for contributing time and items to support our community and school families. It was a great day seeing students shop for family needs, wrap presents, put together weekend bags, enjoy hot cocoa and time with one another. Students had a great day of giving and celebration and we thank all that helped make the day successful.

SMS teachers are in the process of recommending students to take the Iowa Algebra Aptitude test to determine the best middle school math placement for students and assess readiness for the rigors of an Honors math class. However, parents do have the option to request that their student take this test as well.

If your student is not currently in an honors or advanced 6th or 7th grade math class and you wish for your student to be considered for an accelerated math course, please fill in the form below. Students who are entered into this form will be given the opportunity to test to see if they are able to be considered for this path. The test will be administered mid-January. Please finalize your request by January 3, 2023. Thank you.
