HFRCS Newsletter SY 2022-2023

March 7, 2023 - Vol.2 Issue 27

From the Principal's Office

Dear Parents and Guardians,

At this moment, our students in grades 2-7 are quietly and diligently completing their Terra Nova reading tests. Terra Nova testing will continue tomorrow and Thursday. Terra Nova provides us with important information and helps to guide our instruction in the future. Thank you for having your child arrive at school on time and being prepared to complete these standardized tests.

This Thursday evening, our second-grade students from Queen of the Universe Parish will be receiving their first reconciliation. We congratulate our second graders on their preparation for this sacrament and wish them the peace of Christ.

The FACTS Family Portal will be turned off from Friday, March 10 until Friday, March 17 so that report cards can be prepared and printed. Thank you for your patience!

Enrollment for the 2023-2024 school year is well underway! As you are aware, Holy Family utilizes Continuous Enrollment, which means that once you are enrolled, your child will continue their education here until graduating from 8th grade, unless you opt-out. Right now, we are giving priority placement to students who are siblings of currently enrolled students. If you have a new child who will be coming to Holy Family next year, please complete an application online or contact our Enrollment Director, Regan Downey (regan.downey@hfrcs.org).

Our school is preparing for the visiting team from the Middle States Association Commissions on Elementary and Secondary Education. Much hard work has gone into preparing our self-study and our goals for student performance and organizational capacity. The visiting team will be arriving Monday evening, March 20, and will be visiting our school on Tuesday and Wednesday. They will be delivering their recommendation for re-accreditation on Thursday afternoon to our faculty and Pastors. Please pray for a successful visit from Middle States!

Sincerely Yours in Christ,

Mrs. Haggerty

Lenten One-Can Meal Drive

For our 2023 Lenten Service Project, HFRCS will be collecting one-can meals for our friends at Nutritional Development Services which they will then distribute to local food cupboards and soup kitchens. In order to make this a more meaningful experience, we ask that you have your children either pay for or, at the very least, shop for their donated items. This gives ownership of the good deed and creates a connection to those we are out to help.

Our SCHOOL GOAL is 400 cans! 2 cans per person will exceed our goal!

Many of the local food cupboards and soup kitchens have seen a swift increase in numbers of families with children who utilize their services. Please see attached document for examples of what we are collecting.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity to the many hungry people in our surrounding communities. As always, we appreciate all you and your family do to support your children, our school and Catholic education as well as those in our community.

Please send in donations by Friday, March 31.

Title 1 Program Survey

We need your help to achieve 100% participation! We still have not received a number of the surveys (sent out per family, for students in Kindergarten to 8th grade). Please return the completed form in the envelope provided ASAP.

Yearbook Photos

Photos for clubs and CYO sports that the yearbook does not already have will be taken on Friday, March 10. For those in the lower grades, please make sure your child knows what clubs/sports they participated in this year. Thank you.
