The Hour of Code

is coming to NCE December 8 - 14 during students' computer time - as long as they are finished with Istation testing. Remember, students can test in Istation on the Chromebooks just not complete lessons.

The purpose of The Hour of Code is to have students (and teachers) learn that computer science is fun, easy, and accessible to all ages.

There will also be a district wide event on Tuesday, December 9 from 6:00-7:30 pm at the Texan Drive Stadium. Flyers will be available in the Library and on the School website for any student interested in attending.

Interesting Apps and Websites

Updating Chromebooks

Doing a hard shutdown (holding the power button for 10 seconds) at the end of each day will allow the Chromebooks to update nightly. Students will have to log in each morning but they should be doing that anyway.

Keeping the Chromebooks updated will let students access websites with fewer error messages and have an overall smoother experience.

The video below shows what to do if a Chromebook displays an icon indicating it needs to be updated.

Pictures of Technology

Don't forget to take pictures of your students using technology in the classroom. Then send them to me so I can make sure the board sees the great things you are doing in class!

Items you could take a photo of:

- Students doing a Kahoot!

- Using Quizlet

- Students using your Google Classroom

- Projects

- Forms

- Exit Tickets

- Accessing their drive

- Mystery Hangouts

- Reading QR codes on the tablets

- Using tablets in a center

But do not limit yourself to just this list. Take a picture and send it to me!
