Coker Receives Operational Status!
Congratulations Coker Family! We received word yesterday that our school has once again received operational status for PBIS. We are very proud of this accomplishment and want to THANK each and every one of you for supporting our efforts with PBIS! Our assembly on Friday truly showed how excited our students get over the process here at Coker. And boy they were excited, huh!?!? A BIG THANK YOU to our PBIS team members for all of their hard work preparing for the assembly last week! We had a blast!!
October Faculty Meeting (10/4)
Please report to the CAFETERIA at 3:30 for our October faculty meeting. Wendy Sosebee from the central office will be here to share information with us about changes with our insurance and open enrollment. We plan to start at 3:45, however, if pick-up ends early we will start as soon as our paraprofessionals arrive from the gym.
Common Planning Day for October (10/5)
Tomorrow Amy McClure and Regina Glass will be here to meet with all grade levels during your planning in the STEM lab on the 2nd grade hall. During this meeting they will be discussing our upcoming STEM day (10/14). Ms. Holcomb has completed the schedule for classroom coverage with our kindergarten paraprofessionals.
Help a Child Smile Bus (10/6)
The dental bus will be back on Thursday (10/6). Elizabeth has coordinated everything with the bus and will be calling students up as we need them. Thanks for all of your help with this project Mrs. Elizabeth!
Fall PDGA Disc Golf Tournament (10/8)
This coming Saturday (10/8) our disc golf team will be competing against players from all over the Southeastern U.S. here at Coker. The tournament will begin at 9:00 a.m. so if you get a chance come out and support our Coker Cubs as they compete! Growth Mindset for students - Episode 4/5
Growth Mindset Episode #4 - ClassDojo
Discussion Guide - Please take a few minutes this week and share this brief video with your homerooms and complete a journal entry for your class. Please compile these as we progress through all five videos over the next few weeks. Please let me know if you have any questions. These videos are elementary but get the point across regarding a growth mindset.
in Episode 4, "The World of Neurons," Mojo and Katie learn that challenging things help their brains grow stronger.
1. What are neurons and how do we make connections between our neurons?
2. Think of an example where you made some new connections in your brain. What were you doing?
3. What can you do this week to make some new connections? Set ONE specific goal.

IDEA OF THE WEEK
This idea came from Donna Hammond who simply uses a planter box and four small green plastic containers inside the box, to have her students deposit their house tickets. Many of you utilize something like this to collect tix but just thought that we would share this with everyone because it was such a neat and inexpensive idea. Please feel free to share any ideas that you find helpful in your classroom and we will pass them on! THANK YOU MRS. HAMMOND!
MCHS Homecoming Float & Parade
As preparations begin on our Homecoming float we would appreciate any help that you could give us. It is a huge undertaking to work on a float and our hopes are to put together a quality float that will possibly be able to win 1st place. But we need your help in preparing it for the parade. We are excited about Friday's parade and look forward to seeing everyone there in support of our Coker Cubs. THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP WITH THIS PROJECT!
