Holy Cross Catholic School

From the Desk of Mrs. Wagner

March 26, 2021

As we begin Holy Week on Palm Sunday, may we reflect and meditate about the events that brought upon our salvation and embrace the blessing of this gift. Please take this time to celebrate and share this special week with your families. We are so blessed to be able to share this time with our students to learn and grow in our faith as a school community. We encourage you to continue the conversations at home. We look forward to seeing you at Palm Sunday Mass to begin Holy Week together. Below you will find resources to help families come together as a time of devotion to the Passion of Jesus Christ during this special time.

This is also the time of year that we begin announcing staff departures. Please join me in honoring Mrs. Jeanine Schneider and Mrs. Janie Woods.

Mrs. Schneider has served at Holy Cross for seventeen years and her dedication to her students is second to none. Her passion for reading was apparent as she works tirelessly helping students not only during the school year but all summer long to help them reach their goals. She will be greatly missed and we were so blessed to have her share her talents with us for so many years.

Mrs. Janie Woods has accepted an English teaching position at Bishop Miege High School. She has taught our students so much in the past five years. The students have been blessed to have her prepare them for high school and beyond. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us.

The absence of your smiles and laughter will be noticed in our hallways. May God bless you and keep you in your new endeavors.

Saint Thomas Aquinas Halo Broadcasting Visit

Ms. Anderson and I were able to take the Holy Cross Broadcasting Team to St. Thomas Aquinas where we learned all about Halo Broadcasting. Our team was able to shoot a segment and learn all about their "fancy" equipment. They helped us build a teleprompter that we are so excited to add to our broadcasting center. Holy Cross is so blessed to have this program and it was awesome to see how our students will be able to expand their skills in high school.

A reminder that after Spring Break students are allowed to start wearing shorts again!

Kansas State Assessments Begin

Next week, Kansas State Assessments begin for Fifth and Eighth Graders. Please make sure that we limit appointments as much as possible for grades 3-8 in the next few weeks. We ask that the students get a great night's sleep and a healthy breakfast each morning. We are so excited about our students showing all that they have learned this year despite the challenges that were presented to them. We are Holy Cross Strong!
