It was great to have students and staff back in the building for the start of the school year. Despite the challenges with scheduling, the first days of school were a huge success. I have always enjoyed the first day of school as a principal, teacher, and student. Seeing the teachers creating positive environments and witnessing students participating in team building activities, in the classroom, is always refreshing. We are looking forward to another awesome school year at AGS. Your continued support of our staff and students is truly appreciated.

Visitor Aware Management System

As an additional effort to improve the safety and security of our buildings, each school will be implementing a visitor management system called "Visitor Aware" beginning next Monday, August 28, 2023. Visitor Aware is a visitor management and screening service designed specifically to help secure our schools. Visitor Aware is used to ensure that only safe visitors are granted access to this location. This provides an additional layer of security for your children by validating the identities of anyone entering the premises, determining if they are a potential threat, and keeping accurate records of all school visits. Please review the short "How to" videos and corresponding Infographics, as well as the Parent Welcome Packet for more information. Finally, be sure to have your Driver's License in hand the first time you visit our school so that you can get registered into our system. Once you have registered at a school, you are registered at all buildings throughout our district. Thank you for your help with keeping our students and staff safe! #WeAreFenton

AGS Pick Up/Drop Information

DROP OFF / PICK UP LOOP

We realize that school drop off and pick up loop procedures are not the most convenient. However, please understand that the safety of AGS students will always be our first priority. The current procedure is considered to be the safest approach as endorsed by the Fenton Police Department and County Traffic Engineers. We appreciate your cooperation and patience during the morning and afternoon drop off/pick times.


Things to remember:

  • The loop off of Shiawassee is for PARENT drop off / pick up
  • Students may be dropped off across Donaldson Drive
  • There is a crossing guard at Donaldson Drive during drop off and pick up
  • There are over 2000 students arriving and departing in the same vicinity (AGS/FHS)
  • The Donaldson (front) Loop and Entrance is for Bus Traffic Only
  • After 7:30 AM, please drop students off at the front entrance (off of Donaldson Drive)

AGS Open House

Thursday, September 7 (6:00 - 7:30 PM)

We look forward to seeing you at the AGS Open House. This a great opportunity to meet your child's teacher and visit their classrooms. The Open House is not intended to be a conference with teachers, rather an opportunity to meet them.


This year's format will be Open House style, instead of following an abbreviated bell schedule. This format allows parents to stop into classrooms anytime between 6:00 - 7:30 PM. Parents will be able to meet teachers, pick up course syllabi, and preview course texts/materials.


Please use ParentVue/StudentVue for course schedules, if possible. Schedules may be printed in the main upon request.


Maps of the school with room numbers will be available at the main entrance of AGS upon arrival.


If your student has one of the following teachers, they will be available in the Tiger Den during the open house (Room E 133):

**Please note: some teachers will not be available during open house due to coaching responsibilities. A list of those not in attendance will be included in next week's newsletter.
