Updates from Sanborn School

Dear Families,

We are so excited for the start of the school year! We are fortunate that the large construction project has wrapped up and our teachers and staff have been setting up their classrooms this week in order to welcome your children to school next week. We are appreciative of the upgrades to Sanborn School as a result of the construction project: new HVAC system, new bathrooms in the MILE classrooms, and new lighting in some areas around the building. The temperature has been quite comfortable in the building!

There is something special about the joy of a brand new school year. The Sanborn staff is committed to providing your children with a warm and welcoming environment, and we look forward to a wonderful school year. Please read the information below which highlights our Meet the Teacher Event, General Sanborn Procedures, Health Office Information, Parent Orientation, and PTA information. Meet the Teacher Information

Sanborn will be hosting a Meet the Teacher Event, in-person, on Tuesday, August 17. This event will be for an hour, from 8:30 a.m.-9:30 a.m. In order to help our Kindergarten students and families socially distance, Mrs. Goode's AM Kindergarten class will meet from 8:30 a.m.-9:00 a.m., and Mrs. Goode's PM Kindergarten class will meet from 9:00 a.m.-9:30 a.m. Meet the Teacher will end at 9:30 a.m. so that we can continue with our Institute Day Meeting. Masks are required for all students and family members attending this event. Parking is available around Sanborn School, but please do not park in the church parking lot south of the building.

We will have assignment notebooks and calculators available for sale in the hallway outside of the LRC. Please consider stopping by the office to pay any student fees. In addition, we will have staff available to collect any health forms you have to turn into our nurse.

Please bring your child's school supplies to school on this day. If you ordered school supplies from the PTA, these have been delivered to your child's classroom.

Welcome to Sanborn School!

- State-mandated Health Requirements are due by 10/15/21 (please click on this District website link for the Required Health, Immunization, Dental, and Eye Exam Forms, or contact your School Nurse).

- Medications to be administered to your child while at school must have both a written physician's order and written parent authorization (please click on this District website link for the Medication and Health Care Treatment Authorization Forms, or contact your School Nurse.

- Please bring medications and appropriate documentation to the Health Office at your earliest convenience.

- For students with other Health Conditions, please refer to the following District website links Food Allergy Forms, Asthma and Seizure Action Plans, When to send your Child to School, Health and Wellness Policy Guidelines, Accidents, Concussions and Head Injuries.

Parent Orientation Information

Parent Orientation is scheduled for the evening of Thursday, August 26. This event will be in-person, and masks will be required. Specific grade level times will be shared with parents next week. Parents will need to self-certify that they are symptom free upon arrival to school. Please look for more information related to this event coming soon.

PTA Information

Please look for some fun lawn signs in front of the school and on the west side of the building this Wednesday to welcome back our students. Thank you to the PTA for providing these signs!

Thank you to all who were able to attend our first PTA meeting this past Tuesday evening. The next meeting is Tuesday, September 14, at 6:30 p.m. Please consider joining the PTA!
