College Information
Are you looking for ways to help pay for college? Many agencies, organizations, institutions and businesses across Oklahoma provide tuition assistance benefits to help their employees pay for higher education. The Oklahoma State Regents’ team maintains a list of employers that offer tuition assistance benefits for employees that can be used at an Oklahoma public college or university. Check it out here!
Are you a senior applying to OU or OSU with an ACT composite below 24? Be sure and apply “Test Optional” to maximize your chances of being accepted. Students with composite scores of 24 or higher should apply with their test scores.
Register now for the ACT test. The ACT test is held on a Saturday several times throughout the school year. Students must register on their own by going to this website. It is beneficial for students to take the ACT test several times throughout their high school career in order to maximize their score. Most colleges and universities will now “super score” and use the highest score students ever get on each section of the test. Register today to take the test!
Are you a Senior planning on attending college next year? If so, you and your parents should fill out the FAFSA form found here beginning October 1. FAFSA stands for “Free Application for Federal Student Aid.” This form is used to determine student eligibility for financial aid at almost all colleges and universities. Funds are given out on a first come, first served basis, so it is important to apply early. The application opens October 1 for students enrolling in classes in Fall 2023.
Mark your calendars to attend the Edmond College Fair on Wednesday, October 5 from 6-8 p.m. in the Nigh University Center of the University of Central Oklahoma. College representatives from throughout the region will be there ready to talk to prospective students and their parents about the opportunities available at their institutions. This is a great chance to talk to people from a large variety of institutions within a short period of time. All students grades 9-12 are welcome to attend this free event. No pre-registration is required. (Note: If you can’t attend on Oct. 5, a similar fair will be held on Oct. 4 from 5:30-7:00 p.m. in the main building of the Oklahoma City Community College campus. UCO is holding a Prospective Teachers Academy on November 4, 2022, from 9-2. This is a great opportunity for students interested in education--even if they don’t plan to attend UCO. Contact sscott@uco.edu to register.
The State of Oklahoma is now offering a new OK Future Teacher Scholarship and Employment Incentive Program. Students entering a public or private Oklahoma university with an accredited OK teacher education program who declare a degree leading to an OK teaching certificate are eligible for a scholarship of up to $25,000. A representative from the University of Oklahoma will be in the cafeteria on November 8 to visit with interested students.
Last year, the Oklahoma City Community Foundation awarded more than $3.3 million in scholarships to 900 students throughout Oklahoma. Beginning Oct. 1, seniors can apply for one of this year’s scholarships. Go to occf.org/scholarships to apply.
Are you an athlete looking for a college scholarship? Apply now for the Heisman High School Scholarship at heismanscholarship.com. Applicants must be seniors with a minimum 3.0 gpa. They must be leaders in the school and community and must have participated in athletics. Deadline Oct. 18, 2022.
The Coca-Cola Foundation selects 150 seniors nationwide to be Coca-Cola Scholars. Students are recognized for their capacity to lead and serve, as well as their commitment to making a significant impact on their schools and communities. Apply here. Deadline Oct. 31.

Parents, please do not park your car to drop off your student. Our lots are for Staff parking so they will be ready to start the day.
The Bus Loop on the north side of the building is for bus traffic only. Please do not drive in the Bus Loop during dropoff/pickup.
Parking in handicap places is not only against school policy but against the law. Do not use handicap parking spaces for ANY length of time.
Pictures and Yearbooks
Picture retakes will be available October 20 for all students who missed the Sept. 8 picture day, and seniors who did not have a photo taken over the summer.

ACT at the Creek
Students can register at act.org. On test days, doors open at 7:30am and close promptly at 8:00am. Students can bring ACT approved calculator; watch, timer, or stopwatch, snacks/beverage for break. Students are not allowed to bring Cell phones, smart watches, fitness bands, any other devices with recording/wifi/internet, textbooks, dictionaries, scratch paper, highlighters/pens/colored pencils, tape, reading material.

Medication at School
Forms are available on the Deer Creek Schools website under Parents and then under Health and Nursing Services. One medication form MUST be filled out for EACH medication and also includes things like inhalers and insulin. Students may self-carry prescription inhalers, epi-pens, and insulin only if the self-administration section of the Medication Form has been filled out and signed by a parent. The student must also sign that section. Please email the school nurse with any questions or concerns. kendradavis@dcsok.org

All students wishing to drive on campus must have a Parking Permit.
Parking in handicap places is not only against school policy but against the law. Do not use handicap parking spaces for ANY length of time.
Students do not park in the Central Lot while you drop off something or just to run into the school for a few minutes. You will still receive a ticket for parking there even for a short period of time.
Vehicles may not be moved during the school day and fines may not be appealed. Disciplinary action may be taken for students in the parking lots or cars during the school day. Driving privileges may be revoked for other disciplinary reasons.
For a student to apply for parking the following must be provided:
1. Obligation Free Record
2. $50/$125 cash/check or by credit card through InTouch
3. Drivers License (not permit)
4. Insurance verification for the vehicle being driven. Insurance must be maintained through the school year
5. Terms for campus parking must be accepted by both student and parent signature
6. Students will need to go to the Annex office to pick up passes purchased through InTouch

Deer Creek Communication Platform
Deer Creek School District is embarking on a new communication platform to include a Deer Creek App that is designed to enable parents, staff and students to stay informed and up-to-date on events, important issues, general information, emergency notifications and site based activities. The Deer Creek App will work conjointly with the SchoolMessenger App (registration only required one time) as a notification system. Once a parent has registered with the SchoolMessenger App, they will only need to use the Deer Creek App for all things Deer Creek!
