Status Quo
Charlie Gordon is someone who struggles with writing and he is not awful smart. We learn he has been given a once in a lifetime opportunity to find out what it is like to be smart and with this opportunity he will find out who he truly is.
Call To Adventure
Charlie is told that there is a way to make him smart and he jumps at the idea.
Assistance
Miss Kinian helps Charlie out many times on his journey. We drew a book as her head and pencils on her dress because of how she helped charlie learn to read and write before the operation.
Assistance
When Charlie Gordan was sad and thought he had no friends Algernon seemed to be the only one who was nice to him and could understand him. This helped him get through one of the toughest periods of his life.
Departure
As the operation begins Charlie takes his first step to becoming smart, this is when everything changes. Charlie experiences heartbreak, love smartness and pain.
Trials
The maze symbolizes many things for Charlie. He experiences anger when he loses to Algernon and happiness when he finally wins, it really lets us learn who charlie gordon really is.
Approach
Charlie is super smart and the test seems to be going great. Everyone is happy and Charlie is finally smart, but he soon finds out he has few true friends and because he is so smart he is having a hard time being social.
Crisis
When Charlie realizes that he is going to lose his intelligence just as fast as he gained it, he begins to panic, realizing that all of his research needs to be done quickly. He knows that the immense knowledge he possesses will soon be gone and falls into a sort of depression.
Treasure
Charlie finally knows what it is like to be smart and finds out that he is falling in love with Miss Kinian. He now knows what it is like to belike everyone else.
Result
Charlie's intelligence is faded. He has learned of its fade and had tried to accept it, which is a challenge for him. He begins to make mistakes he made commonly before he gained the intelligence.
Return
Charlies IQ is lower than ever. Tests are all showing the added intelligence had been erased. The knowledgeable Charlie Gordon is now gone.
New Life
Charlie gives up on living. He decides to kill himself or accept death because he has lost the knowledge he had and doesn't want to live without it. His new life is in a way a lack of life.
Resolution
After Algernon dies we figure out what will happen to charlie and he leaves a note for Miss Kinian and makes a grave for Algernon.
Resolution
We can infer that Charlie either commited sucide or died because of the knowledge. He has learned many things and we can tell that going into death he was happy for the chance to be smart.
Return to Status Quo
Charlie and Algernon are both dead and the test did not work out, miss Kinian's heart is broken and Joe Carp and Frank Reily were finally being nice to Charlie and yet at his deathbed Charlie was happy Frank and Joe showed shreds of honorable men and the scientists still have data and miss Kinian got to know Charlie and love him even if it was only for a little while.
